I too have had a bad experience with Care One in Moorestown. Yes, it is a beautiful place but like the other reviewer pointed out, don't be fooled by the gorgeous exterior. The type of care our mother received is cookie-cutter, one-size fits all care. She actually fell and broke her pelvis during her stay and ended up being far worse off than when she entered this facility. I will point out that there are many good nurses and aides who have been very kind to our mother and they are angels on earth, and she absolutely adores her physical therapist. However, this facility arranges for services that she doesn't even need such as speech therapy. My mother is recovering from a bout of pneumonia and needs to build up strength - she doesn't need speech therapy. Again, it's this one-size fits all 'care plan'. I hate to say this but I truly feel this place milks the patients for all their worth. It's terrible but I agree with the other reviewer who mentioned this place holds your loved one hostage. THEY decide when you will be released and what type of therapy you'll receive regardless if it's needed or not. Another thing I want to mention is that my family and I tried many, many times to reach our mother's primary doctor and left message after message. Her doctor NEVER once returned any of our phone calls. That is terribly unprofessional. Just be warned this place is not all that it appears to be and if possible, try to do your homework when searching for a rehabilitation facility BEFORE it is needed.

My mother was there a year ago, and it was a terrible experience. It is very painful to write about what my mother went through, but she was neglected and almost ignored by many staff. She had a lot of bruises, and they didn't report the bruises, they just told me that it happened on another shift and that she was prone to bruising. This was absolutely not true. The bathrooms were extremely unclean. They moved my mother into another room which had a giant puddle of dried urine on the floor the day she moved in. I would come to visit and find the small trash can in her room filled with her roommate's dirty diapers. They moved residents around with no regard to their feelings. I saw a case when they moved a resident from a room, with a long time roommate they had bonded with, and put them in a room with a women who hated her, and screamed at her day and night. In another case, they put a women who was very stressed and needed calm, into a room with a nearly deaf women who blasted the TV at full volume, making the other women cry, and the staff just became angry at the women for "acting up". Why not put two deaf women together? I could list many more examples of why you should not bring a loved one to this home.

This place is holding my Mother hostage… She fell and broke her femur in August. They had her in and out of Marlton in under a week. She was at first given too much pain meds in Moorestown and then refused to take them except at night. They have repeatedly told me that it is unsafe to bring her home but she is showering, using the bathroom, and walking with a cane on her own. If I sign her out AMA then they will not set her up with in home therapy that she needs. Bottom line the only thing other than therapy they are providing for her is food and I do all the cooking for her…. I have been fighting with them since last week. The social worker Nancy gives absolutely no reason as to why they feel it is unsafe. They will not answer the question "what are you doing for her there that I can not do for her here?" She does not hear well and can not hear the phone in her room, so none of her friends have been able to speak with her. She is crying on the phone that she wants to come home and her emotional health is suffering. My advice RUN from this place.

the care here was top notch. My father was a patient and the care and compassion he received from the nursing staff and therapists was remarkable. The director of nursing was extremely hands on and tended to my fathers wound personally. The care he received at this building allowed him to return home with his wounds healed.

I consider this facility Burlington Co. best kept secret. I have become very close with the activity ladies. I plan on coming back utilizing my cane not my wheelchair to see them all. KAtie from the kitchen is the sweetest hardest worker I have come across in my stay any where. I am being discharged next week and will always have a place for the people who helped me progress and get back to my full potential.

I am not sure if the other reviewers' loved ones where staying at the same facility as my mother? We had an excellent experience given the situation at hand. Mom has been there two times now. I did my due diligence and I had more word of mouth referrals to this community than anywhere. The nursing staff and therapists all did a great job. The second time she came back the staff made it feel like a coming home party.

My grandmother was here in the rehab section to build up some strength after she fell and was unable to get up or get herself to the phone. The idea was to allow her to return to her home and live independently with daily non-medical help. While I was only an infrequent visitor, it was remarkable to me that sometimes her speech and affect were close to normal, but other times she was unable to speak clearly, slurring her words, speaking much more slowly, and appearing dazed. I strongly suspected that she was given too much of her tramadol (which she had been taking for years for pain with no such effects), or perhaps being drugged with Seroquel or other psychoactive meds. Staff assured us otherwise. She was not permitted to get herself out of bed or her wheelchair to use the bathroom. If we had not requested that she be allowed to shower (although never alone, never washing herself), she would have only been bathed in bed. Personal hygiene, toileting, occasional cooking, walking from room to room were activities that she could handle before, however slowly. After 2 months, she changed from a reasonably healthy albeit frail lady to a near-invalid because she was not permitted to care for herself at all. After a brief daily physical education session, she was returned to her room, either in her wheelchair or in her bed for the night. On my last visit, she was put in her nightgown in her bed at 4:15pm because she had been unable to get off the toilet. Her physical therapist informed us that she was "regressing". Her speech became barely intelligible. I strongly believe these were medication effects. If this facility's mission is to return people to normal or near-normal functioning, they are failing miserably.

I wouldn’t send a dog or my worst enemy here! You’ve heard the old saying, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” Well… don’t be fooled by the nice appearance of this facility! They know how to “talk the talk” here, but they sure can’t “walk the walk.”

We visited the facility and were impressed by the beautiful setting and appearance and we were assured that they would have no problem handling a patient who came to them for therapy as a “max assist” after a stroke. What we found was that this lovely facility on the outside was a real “hell hole” when you were on the inside. There is a serious lack of respect in the way patients are treated. Mom came from an acute rehab center (Marlton Rehab), where she received excellent rehab and was treated respectfully. Whenever she needed to go to the bathroom or get into or out of bed, someone was there to help her and it was no problem at Marlton. She was taken to the bathroom when she needed to go and was helped in and out of bed several times a day at Marlton, so she could change positions and rest. Upon arrival at Care One, we suddenly found that my elderly mom was expected to stay in bed for 12-14 hours, then stay in a wheelchair for the remaining 10 to 12 hours. Ridiculous! NOONE stays in the same position for that long and remains healthy. Suddenly, at Care One, Mom could no longer get a shower, but could only have bed baths. She could no longer use a toilet or even a commode, but had to use a bed pan! This was demeaning and a move backwards, when in the immediate weeks after her stroke, she was able to do these things! Response time to call bells was long. Though some staff members were polite and helpful, there were staff members who treated mom roughly and who were extremely rude and nasty to Mom and family members. Mom was initially place in a double room, but her portion of the room was no bigger than a closet! The hospital bed was against the wall, leaving her paralyzed side to the wall. Next to the bed, there was not even room for a chair! We had to stretch/crawl across Mom to try to prop her bad hand on a pillow, and staff could not properly get to her to care for her. It was a completely inappropriate setting! Therapists were unskilled and negative. Patients were not given a schedule for therapy and were often left sitting for hours, being told that therapy would be “soon.” We started trying to get Mom in another facility after the very first day!

Every step of the way was a battle here! Don’t even give this place a bit of consideration!

My mother has been at this faculty for several months. There cream dried beef smelt like alpo dog food & I was gagging as I lifted the lid from the smell. The other food seemed to be ok however, my mom didn't really like it. Some of the staff are nasty. The day she was laying in urine & they said they don't have clean linen. When she went to the hostipal she had a sore on her arm (elbow to shoulder) that was their for several days & wasn't being taking care of. My mom, family & cousins Do NOT like this place. If we can get her another place we certainly will.

My mother has been this facility for about 8 months about 5% of the caretakers care about anyone in the facilites. They let my mother sit in urine for hours, patients get bathed 1 a week, food is horible, floors are dirty and they have bad attitude and are nasty. Please do not let your loved one stay at this facility. I have no choice because I am not in charge of her funds.

I have reason to be at this facility often, I do not owrk there, and I find this place is clean and very orderly. I have never seen mold and mildew on the rugs or any other place.

In fact I have told them that if I should ever need a place when I get old I want to be taken to Lutheran care.

Yes Nursing homes tend to smell, after all, how can you stop people from smearing there feces on the walls, when this happens, I have seen it in othere places many times, the smell does linger, it is a problem when you have old people that are literally losing their faculties. I have never seen it here but I am sure it might happen.

I have found that these people in this nursing to be clean neat and very attentive towards all the residents.

If you do not like where your loved ones are then why are they still there?

With the hundreds of places to go to you should move then if it is so bad?

Instead of complaining, do something about it, I suspect you just like complaining.

I would never leave my loved one in a place that was just described so I am telling you that it is not ture.

My family member is in this facility. I have to report that the stench in those units particularly unit 1, ruddisill, and counsilman, is deplorable. It's not just day to day, someone messed their pants. It is the filthy, urine, moldy carpeting, and unclean conditions. The lobby is beautiful, welcoming, as is the administrative, and assisted living areas, but I guess in the medical care wings they just don't care…..My children won't go visit their grandparent because of the consistent unbearable oder. These areas should be addressed by the state, but I'm sure they do something to make sure they pass state guidelines while the inspection is going on…..Afterwards the air quality goes way, way down…..Something should be done to rectify this situation. All that money for new signage and fresh paint in admin…maybe some can be spent to hire someone to really clean the areas where loved ones have to live!
