Review of Bartley Healthcare Nursing & Rehabilitation

1 Star User Review

Initially I was impressed when I visited Bartley last year, looking for a place for my Dad to get rehab when he was released from the hospital. They may be ok for rehab, but they are NOT qualified to deal with any medical issues. My 1st clue should have been when the Dr. first saw my Dad, and evaluated him in the hallway. I mentioned that his hands were shaking, something new. The Dr. suggested it was Parkinsons without even knowing his medical history ! Absolutely untrue! A few days later, when visiting my Dad, he was ice cold to the touch and very sleepy. We found him sitting, slouched over in the 'day' room. I moved him to a warmer place, got him blankets, and filled rubber gloves with hot water for him to hold to try to warm him up. This was after alerting the nurses who did nothing for him. He seemed to be a bit better and we left him a few hours later. I called the next morning to see how he was and the nurse said he was much better. When I returned to Bartley around 4, he was not better. And he said he had been asking to go to the bathroom all day and no one took him. I raised some hell with the nurse, an aid took him to the bathroom and he was too weak to stand. They had to change him in the bed. I could see he was not well. I had again told the nurses, and asked about blood tests for his urinary track infection, concerned that it was back. They said they could not order the test until tomorrow. I said he needed antibiotics now and that he could not wait. They called the doctor who said he should be released to the hospital. When the parmedics arrived, they were very concerned because is oxygen level was low, heart rate & BP was very low. He was admitted to the hospital and we found that he was septic - probably started on Sunday. He died the next morning.

Had Bartley been more observent AND, had I been more forceful, thing would have been different.

I would never recommend this place.
