Review of Bartley Healthcare Nursing & Rehabilitation

1 Star User Review

I'm not surprised by the low review listed on here. I am rather surprised at the person who wrote that they're loved one receives good care here. I too toured many facilities before choosing Bartley. It all seemed good. The place is pretty, looks clean, and the staff seems attentive. Although much of the staff I agree is very nice, the care is sub par to say the least. My loved one had many falls in this facility as well as medication issues, not being fed, etc. One night I was there a young couple who visits once a month came to see their mom. On the last visit they told the nurse last month my mother had no teeth! You had told me they were lost some how and never found. She was being fed strained foods due to this. They said, you were supposed to take care of it and get her dental care to replace her false teeth. It's a month later she's crying to me because she's still on strained foods! When I heard this coupled with my own experiences that's when I started to worry. Then some of the nursing staff started to reveal the short staffing, etc…. As I looked further into the Bartley I found out many disturbing things concerning their reputation on the treatment of the residents. I think maybe 5 or 7 years ago when it was family owned the care was better and the staff that works there were treated better which means better care for the residents. I have now learned if you want real information on nursing facilities ask around at the nearest hospital. When my loved one was sent to Centrastate for an illness I overheard a nurse say, of course it's lack of care the patient came from the Bartley. So I started to ask the doctor's etc that came in to examine and they all recommended some other facilities. So when searching a nursing facility for a loved one don't pick it because it's pretty or because staff seems friendly on your scheduled visit. Ask the actual residents, call hospitals or local doctors, more important call the elder care attorneys in the area. When I did that, that was when I got the awakening of a lifetime. Also, don't be afraid to ask at other facilities you tour about reputations of other facilities in the same area you are looking. They are honest. I got some wonderful recommendations from facilities I toured but did not want for one reason or another and the social worker staff at those facilities were more than helpful on other recommendations. Be very careful when choosing a facility. Remember, this could be you some day. The administration at the Bartley is dishonest. And that's being nice. The administration and owners of Bartley are making millions and probably bilking the system. This facility is not the right place for anyone. It should be closed or put into better hands.
