Review of North Las Vegas Care Center

I have never seen a “care” facility with such poor management in my entire 30 years as a health care provider. The nurse to patient ratio is close to 30 patients per RN. If the nurses only provided care that would be one thing, however, there is no unit manger to take calls from doctors, no med passer. They use mini tubes for G-tubes so a feed through one takes an RN about 15 minutes. They work according to one nurse 8 hours a day… if you do the math with charting med passing, answering call lights that is about 16 minutes for each patient. Their “intake coordinator” is a non-licensed person who takes whatever they can put in a bed without taking into account the patients needs vs. the ability of the staff. This is the worst facility I have seen and I have seen some bad ones. Made a call to the state about the facility. I can’t even blame the nurses for the inadequate care the patients are getting because when you have 30 or more patients, you just can’t give the care needed. I, after several days of quiet observation, can clearly tell that the lack of care is solely the responsibility of none other than the upper management. They need to clear the management out and hire some skilled management! I witnessed several wonderful RN’s trying their best and working through lunch feverishly on charts, but come in and look for management after 4pm and you won’t find any. The CNA staff leaves tons to be desired. The food is disgusting, people in prison get better food than these poor patients.
