My husband was cared for (using term cared for loosely here) for approx 30 hours before he passed away. After being on morphine for months, he was not given any for almost 19 hours after he was admitted unconscious and transitioning to pass away. Not only was he not given pain meds, I had to ask that he be given his Ativan also. Shortly after nurse (again using term loosely) gave him meds in iv, I told her his fingers are dark, not enough air. When they finally gave oxygen, his level was 66. During that time the nurse was apparently extremely worried he may get a bed sore as she tried to turn him a couple times, each time my husband moaned even louder. I told her leave him alone if he was comfortable. I feel that his care was pretty close to torture. He was left in pain, probably having withdrawals and suffocating. I will carry the guilt of having sent him there for a long time. I would not send anyone here.
