I submitted the 3 star review on staffing in the Memory Unit of Scenic. I want to make clear that the 3 stars are only for staffing. This is the only area of care I find fault with. The CNA's in the Memory Unit are top notch people with compassion and are very skilled at their jobs. I can't dispute the opinions of the other reviewers. Their comments reflect their sincere opinions. But here is mine. Scenic is an excellent nursing facility. The Memory Unit is top notch. Those of you dealing with dementia and Alzheimer's may already know how difficult it is to find a place for your loved one. We were asked to leave our first nursing home because Mom was too difficult for them. The scenic memory unit is great. They don't shy away from difficult behaviors and are not repulsed by them. Yes there is the occasional obviously wet or smelly resident. Keep in mind that some of them are very combative when changing is needed. The staff may have to try several times before the resident will comply. So smells and droopy drawers happen sometimes. If you understand the disease then you understand the challenges. The memory unit is top notch and could only get better with added CNA's. When that additional CNA is added to each shift, I'll come back and give them the 5 star treatment.

We had an unfortunate situation and relied on the staff there to explain what we needed to do to get our Mom in. They explained it and we went by their word. Well now we have unexpected bills and are trying to get them paid. On top of that, we visited Mom the day before she died and walked down the hall to find her sitting in her wheelchair with no blanket on or no support on her head, sitting in the hall for all to see not even covered up. She was sitting there frail and unresponsive and it was appalling. We made a report that was never addressed since she died the next day but two months later, we are getting more bills. So, not a good experience. I will say that there were a few there that did take good care of her but few and far between.

Placed our loved one due to unable to take care of him in standard he needed. Placed him due to other patiants his age. From the time we placed him, he contracted the Nuro virus, bed sores, and so dehydrated his Blood Pressure droped do low he had to be admited to the Hospital. He and we tried to tell them how sick he was, but they would not believe us or him. They gave him a medication that made him out of it and put him in bed. We don't have muc of a choic at this time so he has to go back. We will not let down our guards!

I recently visited Scenic Nursing Home looking for placement for my elderly mother. What I saw and heard made me sick to my stomach. First of all the smell of feces and urine was overwhelming. Many call lights were on and people were yelling for help. Some sat in the hall saturated in urine and smelling of feces. Very few employees were seen. Most of the clientele were younger and looked more like old drug addicts. Their hair was oily and dirty, clothes stained, some walked around with wet pants on. I knew right away this was not the place for my mother. But what really made up my mind was when I was leaving, I saw a group of people in white, blue and teal uniforms smoking outside. The language was unbelievable. They were discussing getting drunk, piercing in private places and sexual pleasures. Before leaving your loved one here take a good long and hard look at who is taking care of them.
