  • Lake Ridge Care Center of Buffalo Buffalo, Minnesota 55313

    1) They attempt to berate residents into turning over control of finances to Lake Ridge staff members

    2) They ignore health care directives

    3) They do not bill insurance properly in attempts to extort residents they know have savings into paying out of pocket, despite having billed the insurance successfully in the past before they knew about the resident's financial status

    4) When a resident's guardian / power of attorney objected to abuses, Lake Ridge staff attempted to convince the resident to withdraw the power of attorney.

    5) When the resident finally left the facility, Lake Ridge staff accused the resident's family member of stealing a wheelchair and attempted to get the police involved, despite the resident having brought the chair with her when she moved in and having owned it for years before her first visit to Lake Ridge.

On 6/20/13 I had a scare by an electric shock and burn. I was told to go the the nearest emergency hospital by a local clinic. Everyone there, from the person who admits patients, all the nurses and the doctor that treated me, Dr. Jagodzinski, I would like to thank you all. It was a terrifying experience getting burned and on top of that, an electric shock. Your facility was very thorough, and caring regarding my situation. Thank you so much! Nanette

Horrible experience at this hospital. My father was recently admitted with pneumonia. He spent five days in the hospital and discharged. Three days later he was back in for another five days. He had several more tests, and we waited all day for the results only to find out the doctor had left the hospital for the day. She was supposed to see us to share results. The only bright spot was the nurse supervisor who contacted the doctor (Dr. Vidu Mokkala) and we spoke to her while she was driving. Received results, and then we asked what was her plan. She told us she had no plan. He was discharged the next day, and sent home with no anti-biotics. Three days later my dad was admitted to the hospital again (this time brought in by ambulance). We told the ambulance driver to drive right on by New River Medical Center and take us to St. Cloud Hospital, where dad has not been for four days and is receiving EXCELLENT care. I also spoke to a personal doctor friend who told me to NEVER take your loved ones to New River Medical Center, not even for an emergency!!

My mother was in Lake Ridge for several months in 2011 and it was one of the worst places I've ever seen. The CNAs and the nursing staff was wonderful though. If not for them we couldn't have left her there. The food was horrible, the adminstration was unhelpful and slow to give us any information that we needed to make decisions for my mom's care. The cleanliness was lacking. She ended up just sitting in her room and getting more and more depressed. I would not let anyone send their loved ones there in the future.

I would not use this facility again based upon our experience. We received questionable care and the billing/business office was one of the worst experiences we have ever had with a billing office or any company for that matter. We live in the area and wish we would have driven the extra 10 miles to another hospital that we believed and received better care in the past. New River Medical Center used to be named Monticello Big Lake hospital and it is public knowledge that they paid out millions of dollars in at least one lawsuit involving a death. We gave them another chance after they changed their name and are sorry that we did.

My mother is at Lake Ridge and absolutely loves it. The staff is top notch. Every time she comes back from either a day trip or a hospital stay, the staff welcomes her back and gives her hugs and tells her they missed her. She feels loved and cherished. The staff treat her like they would their own mother. The staff realize my mom is very precious to me and the rest of my family and keep me posted regarding any health concerns. Mom likes the food! A 5 star rating isn't high enough for this facility. The fact that mom is 86 and is now acting like she's 50 again is due, in part, to the care she's receiving at Lake Ridge. The staff keep mom's spirits high by loving her and accepting all her quirks. I can never repay the staff for all of the wonderful things they do for my mom. Thank you.
