My mother is in the skilled nursing factility and her care is phenomonal! Her room is bright and clean and the nursing staff/aides make sure she is not in her room alone throughout the day. She is encouraged in coming to group activities and, if she does not wish to participate, is brought out into the facility's living area so that she has change of scenery and socialiazaion. The meals are wonderful and they keep close track of what she is eating or not eating. If she refuses food, they have protein/nutriend 'ice cream' that she is given .. mom thinks it's dessert and doesn't know it's for her nutritional good. Her level of nursing care (she's in end stage dementia) is wonderful .. the staff is caring and I receive updates frequently as to if there are any problems. She does have Hospice care coming in several times a week to suppliment. I am SO happy she is in this facility .. it's almost like a 'memory unit' .. no long hallways, no parking of wheelchairs in a hall or corner, very compact and home-y!!!
