My mom has been at the Abbey now for 6 months, 3 in Rehab. and 3 since. I wish I had checked with more people before having mom go there. Everyone I talk to now about the Abbey says there are many better places and they would never send any relative to the Abbey. I have met with the administrator and the head nurses several times but things have still not changed even though they apparently tried. Mom has:
1. Pushed into a door in her wheelchair and cut her arm
2. Run into the door again and bruised her arm
3. Was placed on a bedside comode that collapsed
4. Was placed on it again and collapsed again. Had to have xrays from the injury.
5. Ran into a wall and bruised her leg
6. She is left waiting for up to 2 hours to go to the bathroom on several occassions
7. She is supposed to be dressed and out of bed by 10 a.m. and many times it is after 11 a.m.
8. She was sick for a week before they gave her any antibiotics for an eye infection, congestion and hoarseness. Two weeks later she is still sick and can hardly talk. Pneumonia is also going around at the Abbey, so you can see my concerns.
The list goes on but I am getting close to my 300 words. I haven't even gotten into how rude they are to mom. Mom is not the easiest person to please but at $7,000 a month, these things should not be happening.
I am looking for another facility for mom obviously.
