  • Riverside Nursing Centre Grand Haven, Michigan 49417

The kitchen is filthy, look under the appliances and stoves. Since the main cook was fired, the food is now tasteless, not made to recipe, and very often cold. The storage areas are a joke! Total lack of labeling and dating items that have been received, as well as open items in the freezer and cooler not dated. The dish area has mold on the seal between the wall and dishwasher, mold on the seals of the refrigerator, and mold on the seals of the freezers. Not to mention the floors covered with debris under all appliances and counters. I would not bring my loved ones back. A few months ago, there were several falls. That's because the CENAS hang at the nurses stand while call lights are going off, and they leave choking risks alone in the dining room with food in front of them at meal times.

What a wonderful facility, tucked in the back of a residential neighborhood with a home-like atmosphere. The staff, many who have been there a long time, care so much. Fantastic care that my mom received! Would recommend to anyone for either rehab or long-term care.

  • Medilodge of Holland Holland, Michigan 49423

The one star is for the lovely new building. I would give negative stars if possible for the management and staff. My mother was sent here from the hospital needing rehabilitation after major surgeries. Tendercare okayed her transport, but did not make the necessary checks with her doctors on her medication needs. She sat, unattended and unhelped all day as they refused to admit her. HUGE failure to communicate with hospital, and she was sent back to the hospital that evening, still having received no care. She was treated like a package dropped off that they wouldn't sign for. This is all such a shame since the facility is lovely - we had heard horror stories but still gave them a chance and no one should be treated like that. There should be an investigation at this building for the numerous problems.

Beautiful building / grounds - two stars for this.

Not enough help - too many patients for the staff to take care of.

Food - missing many food items (menu) that patients are suppose to have.

Poor management on getting food trays together.

Constant employee turnover. For the huge cost of staying there, there should be

more staff. Staff is too busy all the time for individual care always rushed.

Some staff are caring while others are very rude. You can tell that it is driven finanicial for profit as you feel like you are not allowed to leave. I wouldnt recommend this to others. At times the atmopshere felt roudy, like the staff was out for a day at the park, playing around a lot versus taking care of patients---disappointed customer

My brother has been there for 6 weeks today and I hope the previous reviews are not representative of most patients experience. So far, I have been quite impressed with the nurses, aides and ancillary personnel. Many of them go way above & beyond to provide loving care for my brother. There are numerous activities for clients are on the schedule. The negatives are: food not so appetizing and the current D.O.N. tends to be a bit cold to family members. My brother is as happy at Metron of Lamont as he's ever been anywhere.

The staff seemed to care and tried to help my stepfather who had alzheimer's disease but the doctor who only came around once a week for an hour or 2 was the worst doctor I have ever spoken to. He is the doctor that has charge of this nursing home. He only saw my stepfather once for a few minutes after he had been there for weeks. He was supposed to do a complete evaluation so we could move him to another facility. After another week my mother said she needed his help to get the evaluation or she couldn't move him. He said that he should stay there and wouldn't do it! My stepfather got pneumonia and the antibiotics weren't working so we ordered palliative care. They said he would probably die within 3 days. We wanted him to be as comfortable as possible so the nurses contacted the doctor for pain medication that morning. My mother and I saw this doctor that evening when we visited my stepfather and he said 4 times "you just caught me as I was leaving" as he sat there and ate his orange. My stepfather was dying and all he could say was that he was leaving. He never saw my stepfather that night. We found out that he hadn't ordered any of the medication that he was supposed to so he turned to the nurse and ordered him to write down that they had talked about his medication (which they hadn't) and to put him on more pain medication starting immediately - 8 hours after he was supposed to do that. This guy is a big wig at Pinerest too. He should have his license revoked!!! If you care about your loved ones, do not put them in this place. All they care about is there monthly check from you.

Always working "short". Charge nurses have little knowledge to function as a nurse. The charge nurses are almost always a graduate a nurse, with no experience. One charge nurse seems to always be working with oily hair and unkept scrubs, not to mention her decayed and rotten out teeth. The scrubs that she wears were taken from a hospital. Shows the professionalism of the place. Food is terrible as it is of low quality. No A/C. No retention of any good staff members. Wouldn't advise anyone to put a loved one in this so, called nursing home.

Considering they have only a 42% occupancy rate, says it all. Their management team is constantly being replaced. There is no consistency from one day to the next, to what they expect from their residents. There is no backbone to the managers there. If you have a concern you need to call corp because the powers to be cannot take "charge" and get to the bottom of the problem. Non Nursing staff run the show. I hate how they treat their hard working and caring employees like crap. It seems like this place only keeps the worst of the worst. Any professional person working there is let go or quits. It is a shame this place cannot effectively run a potentially really nice nursing home. Would never put another loved on back in there. Too disorganized and unaware of their resident's needs.
