Rooms small for therapy rehab patients. Dad was here previously, rooms were big enough for wheelchair. New rooms are too small. Can't really fit lift, wheelchair, walker , Clothing. Shower down the hall. Social worker is disinterested. unresponsive.Beautiful chapel and living room. Gardens look nice, it is winter and snow is high.not enough parking, S wing is near chapel entrance only open until 5:30pm. Food is OK, hospital like. Served on Trays in the room. Very nice nurses and aides. Snow removal has been good overall. This is a hard winter. Not enough handicapped parking spaces on either side or parking spaces period.Reception ladies very kind.

Patient's are placed in front of the television area and allowed to stay there for hours on end. No one offers to take them to the bathroom nor changes their diapers until bedtime or when the odor is so bad and someone complains. There doesn't seem to be sufficient help to care for so many patient's. I have over heard employees yelling at patient's that tried to go to bed because they were exhausted. Where is the compassion for another person?

I was very happy with the care that my Mom received at Autumnwood. All of the people that worked there really did a great job. The office did a wonderful job helping me understand the insurance coverage and all of the paperwork was handled for me. I would recommend this place. The girls that took care of my Mom were always so nice, the place was clean and the food was good and served well. I give an A++++++++++++++++++++. Thanks to all of you.

When I was transferred from Botsford Hospital to Heartland Dorvin for Congested Heart Failure and Cellulitis (swelling in legs), my breathing and my legs were not in good condition and my diet was unhealthy. The staff treated me with the upmost respect and appropriate care.

They helped me exercise daily gave me a healthy diet to follow. In fact, I have lost 82 pounds because of them. I can do more physical activities like going to church, singing, bowling, and going places with my friends.

I really would like to thank Heartland Dorvin for helping me get stronger and back home. I would also like to thank Botsford Hospital for sending me over to Heartland Dorvin.

The newly renovated rooms are lovely but are too tight for a person in a wheelchair. Sink in bathroom and in room itself..not sure why 2 needed ? Noisy staff at shift change at times..had to ask that door be closed at night to sleep. Staff very nice. Loved the Therapy room. Hospital like place

Not very happy with overall facility or experience. Very hot in summer with no air-conditioning in rooms. Very miserable conditions on hot days. Fans are not enough to keep rooms cool and should not constantly blow on patients. Families should not have to bring in extra fans to keep patients cool. If they are going to charge as much, at least get a proper heating and cooling system in the rooms. Patients should be as comfortable as possible as they try to heal. Staff was not familiar with certain types of patient care. Some of the attitudes of the staff was not pleasant. I regret taking my loved one to this facility for I hated to see them suffer. I recommend before choosing any facility to go walk around on your own without a tour. Check the living conditions and ask patients and their family members if they would recommend it. Make sure they have a long history of quality experience for the type of care your love one needs (ex: wound, trach, therapy). Be cautious and ask a lot of questions.

    Dear Staff of HHCC-Dorvin,

I am writing this letter to both the regular and hopice staffs of Heartland-Dorvin on behalf of our family to express our sincere appreciation for the efforts you made to ensure that the last three months of my Aunt Irene's life were lived in a very high quality way.

We have great memories of your care for Irene, in so many ways, excellent food served by cafeteria, special activities, great occupational and physical therapy that my Aunt utilized. The attentive doctors, nurses and nurse aids, who kept her clean, met all her special medical needs. I personally am grateful to the admissions, financial and social work offices that were so easy to work with and considerate of my Aunt's limited financial means.

We can't thank you enough for the hospice care provided by Heartland as well.

Attention to detail was phenomenal. Your consideration of the "whole person" was wonderful. I'm especially grateful for the care of my Aunt's spiritual needs,, making special effort to allow her to experience the Catholic Annoiting of the Sick sacrament, not once but twice during the most critical portion of her time in hospice care. Thanks for the regular phone call status updates on her condition too. OUr family really appreciated these calls.

In conclusion, we view your Heartland-Dorvin as a top notch facility in every way, which led to a very positive experience for my Aunt Irene. I would highly recommend Heartland Dorvin to any of our friends and family who have nursing care needs. Sincerely Charles

Even this is a generous rating. Very disappointed with the condition of the facility, it was very clear that very little was going into maintaining the environment and all profits were being directed to the owners of the facility. The patient care area smelled of urine, and the rooms very poorly ventilated. The air conditioning could not maintain the building so fans were placed in the residents rooms. The rooms still ran very hot. The menus were also very inappropriate offerings included hotdogs, chicken nuggets, and grilled cheese. The meals sounded more like something you would find on a child’s menu. The staff were reluctant/slow acting to facilitate transferring family member to another location. They were slow to provide the needed paperwork, and when it was provided it was incomplete. It came across like their attempt to "buy time" so that they could get a higher reimbursement. Overall a bad experience, one which had us quickly acting to have family transferred to another facility. Would not recommend!
