We put my 93 year old Dad in Magnumcare in Sept of '13 where he resided until his death Aug 3, 2015. Being one of 5 Kids who cared for our Dad, I am the long distance one, living in TX, where phone calls were my avenue of talking with Dad. For these two years I would call weekly and listened intently as someone would find Dad and help him with the phone. NOT once did I ever hear someone treat Dad as if they didn't care or they were just doing their job. Every time I heard love and care for my Dad.

Choosing Magnumcare was one of the BEST decisions we made for Dad!

Handing over care for a family member is a difficult desicion, but Lenawee Medical Care joined with our family to make this a great experience. My Mom needed more care than we could provide. She receives very loving high quality care. She is happy and her health is improving after being at LMCF only a short time. We were not expecting her social life to improve as much as it has. She has made friends and now enjoys activities. She was relieved know that Dr. Gietzen was the Medical Director, since he was her family doctor. Thank you LMCF, you have become an important part of our family.

The staff was wonderful to our father, he had a stroke in January and had difficulty speaking like he was out of breath,so he would take a deep breathe and yell…he had the nickname of "ole yeller"..the patients did not like it so they moved our dad to the Alzheimer's unit…he was there for 3days we suggested they give him something to calm him down instead of moving him (he had dementia) in 1.5 years he was moved 4 times, not good for a confused senior! They gave him something…we don't have a clue what it was he became sleepy and wanted to take a nap ever he never woke up..he passed away 7 days later…sound fishy?? You decide. The staff was wonderful to him and we are grateful, but when he was confused and noisy, move him, give him a pill, and he was gone and out of their hair….

If your loved one has Alzheimer and no other problems this is not the place for them. There idea of taking care of them is making sure they are drugged up to the point they cannot function for themselves any longer. My mother went into the home able to walk, dress herself with direction and feed herself. By the time the first month was over she was in diapers, wheelchair and could not feed herself. I stepped in and asked for less medication, and they did that. Then a couple of weeks later sent my father a notice that he has 30 days to find another home for her or they will find one. As if it was not hard enought for him to put her into a home, now he has to deal with this. I feel if you cannot handle a 76 yr old Alzheimer patient weighing 100lbs you should not be able to call yourself a alzheimer unit. At a meeting with the almighty social worker and some staff members they brought up the fact that she was sometimes combative or hugging people. I said that was normal Alzheimer characteristic and they denied it. Look on the website for alzheimer and see what they say! I will say that most of the hands on care givers were great with her, with a very few exceptions.

I would have wanted to know more about the dementia wing, the patients are kept in wheelchairs and are not allowed to walk around. Also at meal time there is no conversation which should have tipped me off to possibly the patients are too sedated. Have a personal experience and GLAD my loved one was taken out of there! When asked for a star rating no stars!

they are understaffed and they hire losers that have gotten fired from other nursing facilities for too many absences and they are just shy of a serious offense to lose their certification with the State of Michigan. If you love your elderly parents at all you should NEVER EVER put them in a place like this. For half the cost you can have a CNA come to your home and care for them

My mother has received the best care. The social workers who do the intake are very knowledgable and explain all the paperwork and financial information. Mom was admitted on the weekend from the hospital and paperwork was done on the weekend - No waiting until Monday. She received a physical exam from the staff doctor who called me within the first hour of seeing her to let me know of the plan. Physical therapy has been in her room and in the physical therapy room. Meals are nutritional and varied. They are also very affordable if you plan to eat with the patient. However, above everything else…it does NOT smell. I love the animals and children being mixed with the elderly. The concept is so very helpful for the elderly peace of mind and rehabilitation.
