  • Regency at Grand Blanc Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439

I came to Regency in June of 2017 after being hospitalized for a broken leg. I was greeted with a great deal of warmth and kindness which brought tremendous ease entering a rehab facility not knowing what to expect. Being younger than the majority of Regency's residents I came with a ton of preconceived notions about being in an 'old folks home.'lol

Every single inaccurate notion was dispelled by the wonderful staff and their unwavering desire to make my unpleasant situation as pleasant as they possibly could. The facility itself is remarkable with a 5 star hotel atmosphere as soon as you enter the door. The food is stellar!!

Everyone from the CNA's, Nurses, Kitchen and Maintenance Staff, Laundry staff and their remarkable PT and OT crew as well as Admin were superb and took incredible pride in what they did.

Regency's PT and OT staff were quite impressive, the entire Therapy department was extremely supportive. They encouraged, inspired and celebrated me at every accomplishment…especially on the days I did not want to be there. The energy when you walk, or roll, into the therapy room was contagious and captivating it invigorated me so many days when I so did not feel like therapy. I love them all.

My stay at Regency was a little over 11 months…yes 11 months. They turned out to be 11 of the most amazing, exciting and unforgettable months of my life. They took excellent care of me.

I will be forever grateful to every single staff member at the Regency of Grand Blanc, from my 1st day until my last, for their part in facilitating my recovery and adding so much life to my life and Regency experience.

When I came I did not want to be there…when it was time for me to leave it was a very sad (and happy) moment because I had developed so many great relationships and friendships.

Would I recommend Regency of Grand Blanc to others? In a heartbeat I would!

  • The Oaks at Woodfield Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439

My father was a patient at The Oaks for therapy. I cannot express how impressed I was with the care he received by the rehab team and the nursing staff. He was very sick and not able to tolerate much activity, but ultimately made it home. Compassionate care was shown from all of the staff - from the rehabilitation department to the nursing team to the dining staff to the housekeeping department. I would, without hesitation recommend The Oaks to anyone who is looking for qualified staff who enjoy working with the elderly and treat the patients and their families with compassion and respect.

This place is AMAZING! My Mother has been in and out of many nursing facilities and has a very complex medical history. this place is better than any that we have ever been to. the staff is very highly trained to take care of the Ventilator patients. more staff around that I have ever seen and are very quick to address any of our needs. this place is a must see. newly renovated and the staff is so nice. the food is also high quality. The Administrator was extremely helpful. came right in to introduce himself and was very knowledgeable in all areas, he is even a Nurse. could not recommend a better place.

My father was at this facility after a brain stem stroke and it left him without balance and double vision. There was one nurse who was very caring and gave him great care. However, one of the workers put him in the shower and left him alone. He fell in the shower and broke 2 bones in his back. The worker asked my father not to tell anyone because she didn't want to get into trouble. My dad being a caring person didn't report the fall. The PT staff noticed that my dad was not very motivated in therapy any more and asked him why. He finally told her that he fell in the shower and the nurse asked him not to report it. I spoke to everyone in the facility and wanted a investigation done. The least the worker could have done was report that he fell so he could get medical attention. The of course determined their worker did nothing wrong.

My mom is there now and you cant trust the staff, the PT department is all over the place and doesn't keep the family informed - all we've ever herd is how great Moms doing. Then all of a sudden when she needs them the most they want to discharge her saying she hasn't been making the goals. We believe it's because they don't want to pay for the radiation treatments and transportation, so they're booting her. We are seeking a lawyers advise to get Mom what she deserves - fair and honest expectations. Figures lie and liars figure. The staff is immature and incompetent, always pointing fingers at each other. Heads of PT and Nursing are very unkind and hurtful to my Mom and our family. It's all about the money - period.

My dad was in the Alzheimer's unit at the Oaks at Woodfield in Grand Blanc for several months in 2013. He was able to ambulate throughout the unit, and one day wandered into another resident's room and took a fall, fracturing both his shoulder and his femur. I was not there when this happened, not sure where the staff was or what they were doing at that time, but I do know that falls can happen. After his surgery to repair his femur bone, (his shoulder was not able to be surgerically repaired or casted due to the location of the fracture), he returned to the Oaks, but had to be moved to a different section due to the fact that he was now receiving therapy. We did not have any type of a care conference reguarding his therapy and were not told of his discharge date from therapy. We found out he came off of therapy because I ran into one of the therapist who had told me he came off therapy a few day ago. He was then transferred back to his room in the Alzheimer's unit. My mom was there during lunch time and helped my dad with his meals. There were 2 other women besides my dad that were not able to eat well on their own. One ladies husband was there during some of her meals to assist her to eat, the other lady, the staff would take a spoon full of food or give her a bite of her sandwich to get her started, and that was all they were supposed to do to help her to eat. One of the residents noticed my dad wasn't eating well on his own and was talking to a male CENA about it (I was in my dad's room at the time, listening to this conversation, and they were outside in the hall). The male CENA told the resident, "You are not allowed to help them to eat and neither are we, only the families can help them". This is when we decided it was time to get my dad out of The Oaks and take him back to an AFC home that we really loved the care, etc, but felt we had to move him into a locked down unit made just for Alzheimer's patients because, at that time, he was mobile enough to possibly get out the door and make it outside and now he was no longer was able to get up without assistance. My mom spoke to a nurse letting her know that we were wanting to move him out of The Oaks and back to the other facility, which she said would not be a problem. However, when we gave them the day were were going to move him, we were told we had to give a 30 day notice. I was furious and asked to speak to the administrator. During the time talking to him, about how they did not assist him and the others that needed help throughout their meal, and telling him if they were not able to properly care for my dad how could they tell us we had to give them a 30 day notice before taking him to another facility that would properly care for him, once the word "neglect" was mentioned, we were told we would no longer need to give the 30 day notice and move he as soon as we could make the arrangements to move him. We moved him, he was checked out by the doctor at the ALF, and was found to have thrush, which may have been part of the reason he was not eating well. I reported all of this to adult protective services, which did not investigate, because from what they said, my dad was no longer being "neglected" as we moved him out of The Oaks to another facility. This was our experience at The Oaks. I would not recommend the Alzheimer's unit if your loved one is requiring some assistance with feeding. Alzheimer's disease is a debilitating disease in which those affected require more and more assistance for their activities of daily living as the disease progresses, which includes feeding!

Be wary of this facility as the administrator picks and chooses the " facility reportable incidents" (a well defined, accurate account of unfortunate facility events) that MUST be reported to the state of MI for review. Having heard the quote "I don't want the state in my building again, we are not reporting it", I would NOT send a loved one to this facility. Recently, the administrators own family member, a long time and respected employee of the company apparently resigned as a result of a serious matter being" overlooked" at a recent board meeting. This is so, so unfortunate as this facility HAD a long history of loving, open, honest, happy employees and residents with a great reputation…again, all before the unfortunate death of the former administrator, Will. The trickle effect down to the staff, at some point, absolutely affects residents. Before the turnover I would have recommended this facility to anyone, especially my family members, either to live there, do short term rehab or to work there.

  • Heartland Health Care Center-Fostrian Flushing, Michigan 48433

I would not recommend this facility to ANYONE. My mother was there for hospice for about a month and a half. There were some staff that were ok, one person that was wonderful but a majority were overworked and didn't care. I understand that nursing homes aren't easy or fun places to work but many of these people did not belong working with patients in any way. We had an incident where she had pressed her call light to get assistance going to the restroom. After waiting an hour she could not wait any longer so she unsuccessfully attempted to get there by herself and ended up falling to the floor. When the night nurse finally saw her on the floor, she proceeded to yell at my mother for not waiting until her call light was answered and roughly returned her to bed. My mother was concerned about having injuries because various places on the side she fell on hurt yet no one tried moving the joints or feeling for injuries in any way. I was furious and asked at the nursing station if any type of exam or xrays had been or could be done. After being told by several people "oh that's the <insert some other job title> responsibility, I can't do that" with no offers to help find that type of person. Finally I pushed the person in charge to either look her over or find someone that could ASAP. No idea why that had to be so difficult. Also when talking to the staff about the incident and asking to file a complaint, every single one of them knew who it was that had treated her so poorly even though I never said or even knew the person's name. I was ready to move my mother as quickly as possible but Shelly contacted me and was awesome. She checked in on my mother regularly and assured me she would make sure she was being treated and cared for well.

The rest of the stay there were minor other annoyances, they would not let her attempt PT or OT with their staff or equipment because she was hospice. Her last day I asked the staff if she had woken up at all and was told she must have because she refused food. I don't think there is any way that was possible but they insisted that it wasn't just a matter of her not responding when they went into the room but that she had actively refused food. Then when she did pass when I arrived they had already packed all her belongings, I would have rather done that myself. If I had, I would have seen that a $20 bill that had been in her cell phone case was suddenly missing. I guess they felt entitled to a tip?

Shelly was great, the lady I normally saw at the front desk was always nice and friendly as well but the rest were either overworked or do not belong working with people.

The staff at Argentine Care Center are wonderful. They are caring and loving towards the residents. They treat everyone like family. Both of my parents were at Argentine Care Center before my father passed away. Now my mom is there and I know that she is well cared for at Argentine Care Center. While my dad was in hospice care, the Argentine Care Center staff were very passionate and understanding. They did everything that they could to make both of my parents comfortable. After 68 years of marriage, it was difficult for my mom to let my dad go, but with the love, hugs and kisses from the caring staff at Argentine, my mom has been able to get through a difficult time in her life.

The lobby smelled of urine and covered up by cleaning solution….My family members wheel chair is discusting and appears to of been sitting in urine. In one room, I found a 97-year-old woman, lying in her own waste. Another resident was found on the floor and later died from her injuries….the staff could not immediately explain.

They meet just the minimum standards but are considered "much below average," according to the federal rating system and recent surveys and complaints on neglect and abuse. Inspection reports of this facilitiy show the daily despair many residents face.

Residents said that when they voiced concerns, staff responded at times rude and abusive to them. State investigators cited (whom was at the facility for two weeks recently due to complaints and investigations)the nursing home, concluding that residents could not speak up without fear of reprisal.

When the I asked the nursing home's administrator, Tim Hayes, about the my complaints, he said: "What do you want me to do about it. Anybody can say anything." He would not comment further.

After the loss of the Care Center's long time administrator the feeling in the home has completely changed. The new administrator is curt, lacks compassion and warmth, and is seemingly not available, as the former administrator was. Although she has been there as long as he was she is definately a person who belongs in the office and not in the position of the warm front line leader that Will was. This has certainly spilled over to the staff which ultimately, unfortunately affects the residents.

I was there for A rehab STINT for 88 days. I probably didn't need to be there that long but 90 days was all Medicare allows. IMO, They kept me there as long as they could. I had to call State of Michigan about willful abuse and SOM investigated and found the abuse did in fact occur. What made it worse was when I reported it, the Administrator, (Kerri) called me a liar and refused to take action against the nurse. Only with pressure from the State and Corporate HR was disciplinary action taken. As word spread I had complained about this nurse, her co-workers came to me with stories similar that had been reported, but administrator had refused to act. Raising her hand and yelling and pinching Dementia patients was common for this woman, but worse yet was the facility knew and would not act. I would AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!
