Review of Jewish Nursing Home of Western Mass

2 Star User Review

The nursing home is beautifully decorated and clean and there were a few staff members and nurses who seemed to really care about my mom who was there for almost 3 months. For the most part, the staff is rude. I watched, during feeding times, as the staff talked over the heads of the residents to other staff members, ignoring the person they were feeding. Most staff members did not communicate their intentions when approaching the patients in the alzheimer's unit mom was in. Most staff members totally ignored the patients unless they were giving meds or doing some specific service for them. Would it hurt to say "good morning" or "hello (name)" Mom was a tough case, for sure, but if you have no compassion please find a new vocation! What ended up happening was my mom was "dumped" into a psychiatric hospital for 6 weeks and they would not take her back. We found a wonderful place for her -maybe not as fancy - but they cared for her with compassion until her death. If you have a loved one in the Jewish Nursing Home, alzheimer's unit who cannot speak for herself, watch closely to be sure she is getting the compassionate care she deserves.
