They don't even practice basic hygiene. During cold and flu season, I saw lots of nurses and aides coughing and sneezing into their bare hands then not washing them. I see them go from patient to patient without washing their hands. They don't give the patients enough fluids. They are not allowed to put pitchers of water in the patients' rooms in the dementia unit. Supposedly they said they would bring around a cart at regular times during the day to offer fluids, but it is VERY inconsistent. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. The LPNs seemed to lack basic medical knowledge. They say they have enough staff, but it doesn't appear that way. The food is horrendous, and the portions are pitiful, even for a senior citizen. The regional director of food services told some of us family members that they spend only $1.70 per meal per patient! I have personally witness three patients fall because the staff wasn't paying attention. Also, they can't seem to keep the social workers (with the exception of one) and directors of nurses. I've seen more than a few come and go in the past few years.

Do not place your loved one or family member in this facility. It's dirty with the underside of the toilet seats not cleaned, grab bars visibly soiled with human excrement, hallways not vacuumed. Many sheets are thin and torn. Many towels just about see through. Nursing care is poor- a very ill patient needing to be admitted to the hospital go unidentified yet when sent to see their own MD in the community they are immediately hospitalized. A patient developed a serious wound who had no issues prior to being admitted. The food is horrible and scare- one patient who wanted a banana everyday with their breakfast couldn't get one because the kitchen didn't have any. Two patients received slices of tomatoes on a plate for their lunch. It's impossible to get any other flavor of ice cream except vanilla or maybe orange sherbert if you can get it because ice cream was stopped.

My mother has been a resident at Wingate for over 4 years and is currently on Hospice. Over the years there have been many incidents including being left on the toilet and falling four times. A few weeks ago her wedding rings were missing and her fingers were black and blue. When I brought it to the attention of the staff they fumbled around with some weird excuse. The rings were never found. It is policy that a staff member contact a family member when jewelry is removed or of any change to her care. On numerous occasions her care has been changed and I was not contacted. This morning I walked in and and my mother was on oxygen and they did not contact me. Due to the fact that she is on Hospice it would have been important. The only reason I gave this facility a star is because the is fairly new an clean

Understaffed cutting back on care for residents. Using a lift instead of taking a patient to the bathroom. Staff telling resident not to drink so much so they will not have to take them to the bathroom. Though the patient is diabetic.
