Manorcare Health Services - Ruxton Towson, Maryland 21204

I stayed at Manor Care Ruxton for about 10 days in 2013 after hip replacement at St Josephs. At that time I got good care and the rehab personnel were excellent. The meals were not very good, but adequate. So for that stay I would give four stars. However, I once again stayed there last year (2015) after cervical spine surgery. The major problem during that time was not having WiFi working, and even their internet cafe stations could not get on-line. Two years before, it was slow and intermittent, but now it was unusable. My friend came by and took me home so I could access my email, and while there we got an angry call saying that I had violated their procedures by not properly signing out. I returned and after ten days I moved back home and was much happier. The meals at the facility were still not very good. But again, the PT staff were excellent, and the nursing staff reasonably good. So, I would give only 2 stars for the second stay.

Pickersgill Retirement Community Towson, Maryland 21204

I recently moved my step father into Pickersgill. I don't know where to begin to tell you how awesome this place is. I moved my mother and stepfather here three years ago in search of a place that would take good care of them. Well for three years I fought for good care of my parents but I always so disappointed. But Pickersgill has been so wonderful. So refreshing from the others. They really do care. Everything about that place is great. The staff, the service, activities and food. My step father is doing so much better in this place. It's truly a wonderful place.

Pickersgill Retirement Community Towson, Maryland 21204

Though my father has only been a resident of Pickersgill Retirement Community for the past 4 months, I am impressed with the quality of care, together with the welcoming atmosphere which has helped to ease his transition from independent living in his own home. The food looks delicious and tastes even better! The staff does much to include family members at every step of the process and stays in contact more than any other facility I have been involved in - and as a geriatric social worker, I have worked with most of the facilities in five counties.

As an employee of Manorcare Ruxton (soon to be quitting) I can tell you right now. DO NOT PUT ANYONE YOU EVEN REMOTELY CARE ABOUT LET ALONE LOVE IN THE HANDS OF MANORE CARE!!. Those other reviews must be higher ups aiming to make the company look well. We are understaffed and under paid, so if you think your loved one is getting decent care then you are mistaken. We have mice, roaches, and bad patient care. As long as the family of the patient is around thing will seem fine but the second you leave its back to business.

It was the best skilled nursing facility I have ever been at. It didn't look at all like a nursing home, it was very modern. The staff was friendly and rehab was wonderful.
