Lorien Health Systems Mt Airy Mount Airy, Maryland 21771
My Mom has been in Lorien Mt. Airy on a mechanical vent consistently since April 2011. She spent one week at Lorien Columbia prior to being accepted in Mt. Airy. The difference is night and day. The Columbia facility smelled. The Columbia staff were indifferent and inattentive to medical and personal needs. Night staff were particularly mean. Contrast that to the Mt. Airy facility where the nursing staff (save one exception), respiratory staff, aides and administrators are consistently caring, and focused on the best all around care for my mom, regardless of shift. The facility is lovely and yet is undergoing a facelift to update its look. It always is a fresh and upbeat place to visit. I'm pleased with the quarterly care conferences (attended by nursing, respiratory and nutrition), the improvements in vent technology, the efforts to increase my Mom's mobility and quality of life, the timeliness and attempts at nice food presentation, and the true CARING for patients/residents. Pick this Lorien facility - hands down.
