Review of Patuxent River Health and Rehabilitation Center

Dealing with the administrative/management staff is a NIGHTMARE! They are angry & vendictive. Example: When I meet with them and they told me I had to take my brother home or move him to another facility, I tried to explain to them my circumstances they pretty much shut me down. Meet with them on 11/15 and he was to be gone by 11/23. It took days to find out the name of the doctor who has been treating him, left message asking him to call me, still haven't heard from him. No one has called me back with the name of phychiatrist who is seeing him. I called the Rehabilitation Program Manager & told her not to send someone to my home to review it for safety, she took it upon herself to march right down to my brother's room to tell him he was being discharged. My brother has dementia & this through him into a tail spin, now even though they are a nursing home & rehab they want me to do something about his behavior. These are the people you have to deal with when you have a question not the people who are taking care of him. The Business Office Director had a problem with submitting the Medicaid application said she had 30 days to do so and if I didn't like the way she did it do it myself. Not one person has returned the call's from my attorney. My brother has medical insurance he doesn't have $10,000. a month to spend on his care. I am 71 years old with failing health I can't take care of my brother nor am I in financial position to do so. When asking for my brother's medical records the complaint was "do I realize how long she would have to stand at the copier to accomplish

this" I just wanted to find a geriatric doctor for my brother. Apparently the Interim Administrator feels no need to address any complaints.

I can relate to everything you describe, we've experienced very much the same thing. I've used the exact same descriptive words as you. Rudeness, attitude, no answers, no return calls, no information, being ignored and more importantly, unless you're there every minute looking for the staff and asking for them to help the patient, they will wait forever for care. The EMT who took him to the hospital told me they'd die first before going there. The police told me they are there all the time and understood what I was dealing with. There is a newer Administrator who does care and tries her very best, she does a good job. I wish everyone else had an ounce of her dedication.

I could write a book. Go somewhere else or opt for home care if you can.
