The facility is clean and there is not an odor. However, the staff do not communicate with the family or other staff. The majority of the staff sit behind the desk doing paperwork and act very rude and inconvenienced if you have a request. There were a few caring staff, however the majority seem untrained and demonstrate no empathy for the patients. If the patient needs assistance they have to wait 30-60 minutes for a response placing them at risk. We received no paperwork about the policies and procedures and requested a care plan meeting several times and it was to be planned a week and a half away! If you are sent here for a short term stay it appears they want to keep you for however long the stay is authorized whether it is medically necessary or not. The food is horrible, served late in an unorganized manner. My father would assist the other patients at his table because no one would help the ones who had difficulty with cutting food, etc. They do not adhere to any diet restrictions. The night time staff is rude and unprofessional. The direct care staff lacked the basic skills necessary for providing compassionate, comprehensive care but in their defense there seems to be a lack of administrative support and leadership. The staff argue with one another and were heard accusing each other of neglecting their duties and lying.

TOTALLY AGREE. This facility, along with the other Sava centers in the area are utterly disorganized. They FIRE the qualified, caring staff even at the executive levels thinking new blood (untrained and unprofessional), will solve the problem. Their social workers are not even sub-par. I am incredulous with Sava Senior Care….some of the WORST senior rehabs centers in Maryland.
And there IS a terrible smell in each of these facilities. I toured them all and won;t set foot in them again. Who would ever knowingly place a loved one in this sort of environment? Not me.
