Review of Mayfair Manor

When my Father was there, they were always short of aids, to the point that I felt I had to be there most of the time to make sure he was being cared for. They would generally have 3 aids on 2nd shift to get 47 people fed at night and ready for bed which is too many patients per aid. It is a pretty place, and there are some nice people there, but the quality of care was not good. My Father was constantly dehydrated one Fall and other nurses told me they thought it was because one nurse there failed to give him flushes of water in his feeding tube. I reported this but they did nothing about it and she was still there when we left. Later, same thing happened on another wing with another nurse. His regular nurse was on vacation for a week and the substitute apparantly just ignored giving him his flushes of water, so he ended up within one week becoming very dehydrated, got an infection and was hospitalized. They had workers sick with the flu in the winter continuing to work with the patients so guess what, all the patients got sick every winter. On the positive side, there was a restorative care aid there who was excellent with my Father and she was very kind to him. It's not a bad place, but you have to watch what is going on all the time.
