This place beat my mother up. I will have this place shut down soon
I see workers who care about the residents. I eat meals that are carefully prepared and served attractively. The maintenance man responds to the needs of individual resident's requests. There are varied activities twice daily even on weekends! The current remodel is major and well-planned. I have no reason to sugar-coat my comments - they're all just plain true!
My Dad stayed there and his legs were swollen. Nobody put his hose on or put his feet up. They put him in a stinky broken recliner. Left him on the toilet numerous times. My mom had to change his dirty depends. Chairs are dirty and smell like urine.
Great therapy! Wonderful food!
Garden View Care Center is, hands down, the best facility in Southwest Iowa. Their staff is not only caring and friendly, but they go above and beyond for their residents and co-workers. I have noticed a BIG change since they switched hands to a different management group. The atmosphere is warm and inviting!
I feel that I am qualified to give an honest review of Nothern Mahaska Specialty Care. My wife, Mary has been living there for the past 2 1/2 years. I visited there twice a week for those times. I had no car. She received excellent care while there and we both noticed this. If and when I have to get this kind of care, I hope that will be at Northern Mahaska. Bob Curry
The Physicians and Nurses did not notice and failed to treat my Mothers critical Medical issue. Family had to demand she be taken to the hospital by ambulance where she was immediately admitted into intensive care. Sadly it was too late.
This care center has friendly and caring workers. They go the extra mile for the residents and understand each one, making adjustments in care or resources to improve things for their residents. The adminstrator is available to family members and residents. There seems to be enough staff to get the work done. There are two activities every day - including Sundays! Worship services are held Sundays and Wednesdays. Residents are given two menu choices and are asked several hours in advance of the meal. I could tell you many more good things about Union Park - I've been there regularly for more than a year and it just gets better all the time!
Premier Estates is one of the best facilities there is!
The staff are motivated and caring. They not only want you to feel welcome and at home. They want to help you reach your fullest potential and succeed.
Whether it be for rehabilitation or long term care, I highly recommend this facility. From the administration, to the top notch nursing care and rehabilitation this is the place to be.
My mother went to skilled care because she had fallen and was fine. She went down hill and she is now in ICU with two 3 inch wounds on her backside. She is septic and almost died. I begged them to take her to the hospital on Friday evening I was told no she could not go. I was told she was fine and she was not. She was acting crazy for someone who never behaved like that. The ER doctor said they should have brought her in when I asked. She is a very sick women he told me. I had asked them about her blood pressure and they said was fine. She kept getting dizzy and throwing up daily. They left her sitting in a wheelchair for at least 8 hours with no pants on. I was there for 4 hours and my sister was there for 3 hours. Begging them to do something for our mother. They did not encourage her to drink water as she going to the bathroom to much. She is very dehydrated, potassium very high. Her BP was 70/60 most the night in the ER and that is one of the reasons she is in ICU.
My dad has been in Touchstone for 2.5 yrs. The staff is always nice, but they are very short-staffed. He is in dirty clothes many times, he has bed sores, his food is awful in taste/flavor…always cold. My family has to constantly nag at administration/staff to get his needs met such as fingernails trimmed, shaved, bathed, clean his room, etc. It is ridiculous that my dad pays almost $6,000 a month for care and we are the ones that have to constantly be after them to do just that! I feel they don't even deserve a star at all!
My pets get better care than my brother does in this holy roller institution. I would rather sit with the devil than these christian ass holes
This nursing facility has very poor communication skills and likes to not get help from the AIDES AND NURSES who know how to do their job legally. I'm sorry my family would never be put in this home. They lift people with no mechanical lifts using a technique called fireman lift. One arm under the residents arm and one arm under leg. One person on each side. This is very dangerous and could lead to serious injury on resident and/or staff. They have been told NOT to do this yet continue doing what they know is not only illegally wrong but VERY unsafe.
The staff is personally interested in each resident and each resident gets specialized care that addresses his/her needs. The food is good. The beds are very comfortable.
I grew up in Columbus Junction, Iowa and have not lived there for over 30 years. Recently both my mother and father were placed in the facility and it is with pleasure that I write this review.
Even though the facility is an older facility, it is well maintained and the people who work there have pride in their work as well as compassion for the residents. My parents are in the wing that gives 24 hour nursing care and each of the staff members there showed respect and care towards my parents. Members of the community are welcomed daily and their presence in the building brings interest and variety to the residents.
The addition of the assisted living apartments is a wonderful compliment to Colonial Manor and the decor of the main hall in the assisted living facility was cozy and tastefully decorated.
I live in Pennsylvania and I feel comfortable that both of my parents are in the best of care at Colonial Manor, Columbus Junction, Iowa.
I would never ever place a loved one in this facility! My sister suffered physically and emotionally while she was a resident there! She told me she wanted OUT of there, and if it had been up to me I would have moved her in a heartbeat!
I would NOT recommend this place to anyone! EVER!
Would not recommend the upper management will tell you what you want to hear.
Depression, diapers and death are what you will find here. SEVERELY understaffed and undertrained. Don't dump your loved one here.
Previous reviewers and interested parties alike need to visit Newton Health Care Center in 2014. Under new leadership, the building is currently rated 4/5 stars by CMS, as well as recently receiving the Facility of the Year award from their parent company IMG. Also they were rated 3rd Best Business in Newton by the Newton Chamber of Commerce. Ask any current or past Resident, their family, or staff how great of a facility and family Newton HCC really is!
My Mother was recently in this home for rehabilitation services. She stayed a total of 26 days. The entire time she was there, she was never given a bath nor was her bed changed.
She is a diabetic but was never offered a menu for diabetics. Most of her food was not to her palate and outside food was brought in for her to eat.
Management is very poor. Resident care is worse.
The staff was very attentive to my mothers needs, the food was very good we even had our own dinning room to eat in during our rehab stay. my mother received great therapy and has returned home. the social workers helped set home health for us as well. if we ever need to use a nursing home again we will not hesitate to go to NorthCrest again.
My family was amazed to read the review of Jan 2014. Every single item listed as a negative experience had happened to our family member. The injury to our family member's hand was so severe that, following death, the mortician made a special visit to notify us of the severity. We did not think that lying about medication, not reporting a Level I violation, and diagnosing in the name of the nurse practitioner should ever have happened once. Now we see that they happened more. Punishment was pervasive …our family member was served all meals last during the entire stay.
Please do not consider this facility for your loved one.
Kenny Brook in Grimes, Iowa is a beautiful facility, but many complaints from the tenants are about how bad the food/ menus are. Need to improve on the food that is served to tenants, Also, there seems to be quite a turn over with staff such as aids.
Residents are neglected due to the under staffing of the facility. The building is often dirty and the food terrible. Complaints are expressed but positive long term change doesn't happen. The administrator is rarely seen and doesn't seem to care about the poor reputation the place continues to have. The kind of care that was promised for our loved one was not given at this place.
