Review of Wedgewood Healthcare Center

5 Star User Review

My father was admitted to Wedgewood after having an acute stroke. On the day of admission he had a trach with oxygen, a feeding tube (he hadn't had anything by mouth for a month), was incontinent of bowel and bladder and unable to bear weight r/t being immobile at hospital. He was at Wedgewood approx. 3 months and upon discharge to home his trach had been removed, no oxygen was needed, his feeding tube had been removed, he was eating regular food and was able to ambulate with a cane long distances. Staff was always kind and gentle. They often brought him treats and home cooked meals. Therapy motiviated him to progress quickly and safely to allow him to return home independently. Unfortunately he was readmitted 1 yr. later r/t weakness secondary to pneumonia. Due to the same caring staff and therapy dept. he again was able to return home after 1 month of strengthening and is able to live independantly. I would chose Wedgewood if any family was in need of care and therapy.
