Review of Rosewood Care Center of St Charles

1 Star User Review

My father was transported to Rosewood after hip surgery. A visit made me feel good about placing him there. My first visit afterwards was the total opposite of what I had seen on my tour. Two food trays were stacked on his tray table out of his reach. They were dropped off and left there, along with a water pitcher. He was left in bed all day, and not been fed or given water. When I asked if he was given his medication, they couldn't tell me if he had or not had it. There was no record of any input of food or water. When I requested a dinner tray, it was supplied. As I waited, I watched the service in the assisted dining room. Patients were struggling to reach their food and drinks because their wheelchairs had not been pushed close enough to the table. The only ones who received assistance eating were those who could not move their arms. I fed my father and went home with a heavy heart.

The next day after doing further research on this establishment, I left work to make arrangements to move him to another facility. When I arrived that morning, he was in a wheelchair facing a wall near the nurses' station having come supposedly from physical therapy. His dentures were not in, his shirt was buttoned wrong, and his hair uncombed. We had ordered phone service and the phone sat on a table unplugged, again out of his reach. I met with the head nurse, who again could not tell me if he had eaten or received his medications. How does that happen??? I made transportation arrangements to move him immediately. No family should place a loved one in this place. My father was a successful businessman in his life, and to see him treated so poorly because he was old and didn't have the strength to complain made me sick to my stomach. I told the entire staff they should be ashamed of themselves, and they should. He passed away several weeks later in a caring and loving place.
