What is the role of a rehab and nursing facility? Is it to medicate patients into a zombie-like state for the comfort and ease of the staff and address their depression by providing them with a daily diet of monotony mixed with boredom and antidepressants? Or is its role to provide for the security and physical and social needs of the resident. Understanding that this facility is grossly understaffed and has a frequent turnover of employees, does not excuse the administration from meeting the basic needs of their clients. Although the staff is friendly, the place is dirty and the patients are not bathed routinely. Social services personnel are inattentive to the patients’ well-being and best interests.
