Review of Grace Healthcare of Tucker

1 Star User Review

My mother has been at this facility for several weeks. The management and communication between staff member is very poor and staff is often rude. Messages are not related to the correct department and things go undone. A malfunctioning paper towel despenser, though reported, took over a week to be fixed. This concerns me because it indicates the CNA's and Nurses were not washing their hands between patients. There were not towels or other means to dry hands so one can only assume they are not being used. There is a general attitude of "that's not my job so I don't care" rather than "I will take your issue to the correct department/person" .

I'm unhappy and hope to move to another faciility

an update of the previous review:

After 2 weeks in this facility my mother began to have panic attacks, something she had never experienced in her entire 82 years. This was ignored until her grandson demanded the staff provide her with some help, ie; some sort of antianxiety medication. He was ignorned at the nursing station while the nurses and CNA continued to chat among themselves and compaired make up in their purses. It was only when they realized he was not going to go away that they tended to the situation and called in a medication. My mother suffered from Parkinson's disease which can cause severe pain but her requests for medication for pain went ignored as well. After 3 weeks we discovered the papertowel dispenser was never fixed (though they claimed it had been). Upon complaining, yet again, maintenance indicated they had never been informed of the malfunction. Three weeks had gone by and I can only assume staff never washed their hands between patients. My mother was terrified of the staff (except one CNA whom she had grown fond of) and begged us not to complain as she feared retaliation. She called us daily and begged us to get her out of there. She had never seen a doctor her entire time there. We had requested a psychological evaluation when the panic attacts started after week one. Though promised to the family this, also, never happened. After 3 weeks we did remove her and placed her in another facility. Upon entry into this facility she was given a through medical exam, during which it was determined she had a rather servere urinary tract infection (perhaps due to lack of hygiene in the previous facility-Grace) and was sufffering panic disorder. Both were treated promptly and cleared right away. Though she was treated with professional care, and great kindness at the new facility, she passed away after only three weeks. I cannot help but wonder if the poor treatment and lack of proper hygiene she experienced at Grace Healthcare contributed to and hastened her death.

Two weeks after my mother passed away I recieved a statement from Grace billing Medicare for the month AFTER she had been discharged. I promptly called Medicare and reported the date of discharge. Grace is now being investigated for Medicare fraud.
