When you go to Scepter for the first time, look at the faces of the residents. I did. You will see a calm peace on every face that comes from love and care given to them by the staff. When a resident speaks to a staff member, that person looks the resident in the eye and gives them their complete attention. The resident has a feeling of self-worth, knowing they are respected and what they are saying is important.

My Dad was at Scepter 4 years. He lived on the "Wings of Hope" with my Mother. The morning he died, many of the staff came in very early, hours before their shift, just to be there and with him and to show their respect for him. We were in awe of such kindness.

The executive staff knows exactly what is going on with each patient, down to the medications or changes thereof. They feel responsible for everything and make sure the caregivers have everything they need and are doing their jobs as expected. They have an open door policy for family members and residents. The nurses and CNAs are constantly on the move, NOT sitting, but checking on each person. A precise daily record is kept on each resident.

The activities and social events exceed all expectations. They are geared for each patient's ability. They know what each person enjoys, and stay with them to help.

My Mother has dementia. She has been in the " Wings of Hope" (a separate secured environment) at Scepter going on 5 years. They have a nurse and CNAs exclusively for them. When we visit, she is in the Community Room in the Wing of Hope. They have clothed tables to eat and for activities. It is always decorated for the next holiday. One whole side of the room is windows, making is a cheerful environment. She always tells me she is happy. On one of her better days, she asked me to make a list of each caregiver's name so she could thank them personally. She said: "I know I'm mostly in a "fog", but I also know these people are SO good to me."

Scepter is an answer to prayer. Scepter is not fancy or showy. The resident's rooms are quite large with large windows. It is extremely clean and smells good. The food is really exceptional, carefully prepared for each person's special needs. My Mother is a chocking hazard, so her food is chopped very small. By far it is the BEST place you can let your loved one feel they are HOME.

The salesman was amazing and while I knew he was doing a job and selling the place, I was severely disappointed in the facility AFTER my mom was placed here. My mom has required supplemental oxygen 24/7 for the last 4 years. Fifteen minutes after arriving at the facility, she needed to go to the bathroom and couldn't get there because of the short length of the oxygen tubing. So, we called for a nurse. She came in and said "just disconnect it and go to the bathroom"…My mom ended up being wheeled out of there alive, but I should have paid attention to the first red flag. The second day she was there, she was taken to physical therapy, where she was having significant breathing troubles, was dizzy, short of breath, etc. After FIVE minutes, it was realized that the therapist didn't turn her oxygen back on after disconnecting her from the portable oxygen. Incidents like this happened repeatedly. I could go on and on…but, I think you get the point….do not be fooled by an amazing sales staff (who I'm sure have absolutely no idea what happens on the unit floor). Thankfully my mom was coherent while she was there, as she was given incorrect dosages of her meds on numerous occasions, which she refused because she knew what she was supposed to take. I am extremely grateful that they were able to keep my mom alive…but I would definitely NOT recommend this place to anyone and would NOT let my mom return there.

This is the most unprofessional nursing home every! The nursing staff is rude and uncaring. The facility is dirty and smells very bad. The patients are left wet, they don't attend to any of their needs. If you do not visit your loved ones constantly. This facility does not offer telephones in the rooms, and patients are sharing one mobile phone between them; spreading germs to each other. The patients rooms are dirty, and patients with mobility disabilities are not moved on a daily basis and left in the same positions for weeks. Patients with bed sores are not tended to and the sore become worst from lake of care. If you care for your loved ones please do not send them to this place….ever!!!

FYI: Do NOT put your loved one in Abbeville Health & Rehab located in Abbeville GA. I took my Mom out on 12-22-14 due to neglect and by 12-26-14 I had her in ER and to this day 1-15-15 she had to have surgery for an abcessed ovary, which had to be removed, which had rubbed a hole in her colon, which in turn lead to a permanent colostamy bag, she had infection so bad in her body she became septic due to a neglected UTI, and feces running amuck in her body, after the surgery she was on life support for several days, then in ICU a couple more days, then to a room for a couple more days, then back to ICU for 1 day not being able to breath due to pneumonia setting in now, now back to a regular room, the sad part to this is their now telling us that Snellville is where were going now? I am scared to death to put her here !!! especially after reading the reviews! There has got to be something we as families we can do, who's ready ??????

I want to cry every time I go to the REHAB center to see my loved one. I have only encountered 3 CNA's that care. The rest take their time when you push the "call" button & then when one came in she actually leaned against the wall & said "Yea?" Like we were "bothering" her! I wanted to punch her in the face. I am praying my loved one can survive this awful place! The floor in the the room is dirty with what looks like drops of urine. I go up to the nurses desk to report it or ask a question & they either totally ignore me or when they finally do look up they act like I am bothering them! I can't report this to the administrator because I am afraid they will take it out on my loved one BUT I am going to report it to MEDICARE! The uncaring attitude of most of these people makes me sick! I feel sooooo bad for these helpless elderly patients! I'm hoping more "BAD" reviews will make for a change! God help these patients!

unless you are willing to go daily at different times to check on your love one this is not the place to put that family member there is ALOT of people that do that just put the love one there and does not go visit or rarely go SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!! that love one more than likely took care of you an NOW IT IS YOUR TURN TO TAKE CARE OF THEM AN MAKE SURE THEY ARE BEING TAKEN CARE OF MAYBE THAT IS WHY THE STAFF IS LIKE THEY ARE THEY SEE YOU DONT'S CARE SO WHY SHOULD THEY?????? when you have your "regulars" (the ones that work all week with the resident) CNA's and Nurses and it is their weekend to work everything is ok however the weekends your "regulars" are not working it is AWFUL staff is totally LOST I feel sorry for the resident of nursing home ; lunch is at 12 noon however food does not come out till 12:30 the staff takes the trays up at 1pm, the resident that need help feeding well they may eat or may not it depends if the staff likes them or not. most residents are in wheelchairs and need to be taken to restroom which to my understanding it is suppose to be every 2 -3 hours this does not happened I have been there. my rating is for the staff that is not the "regulars" because I do go see my love one and other people love ones!!!

As sad as it is. Many of the reviews are FACTUAL! The staff will make you think that they are doing what's best for your loved one, but they treat those people like trash. The CNA's should be working in an animal clinic, they could care less about how they treat them. When you ask a question, you get the "whatever" look. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAQUE!!!

My mother is there as a full time resident. She has numerous issues and the staff is patient and kind to her. There are issues there, of course, but nothing that I have not seen in other homes. There is nothing majorly wrong or bad. We decided to put our mother here based on a recommendation by another family friend whose mother is there and a good experience visiting with the staff while we were still deciding. It is not the most aesthetically appealing home, but it is clean, doesn't smell, and caring to the patients.

If you're not happy with the care your relative's are getting in this facility, contact Omsbudsman….they will make sure things are corrected or they have the capability of closing the place down. I strongly suggest you follow through with any concerns you might have and make your presence know to the staff….call often but the best thing to do is make unscheduled appearances in these places….they will think twice about putting their guard down with your relative is they don't know when you're coming…don't go the same time everytime.

This place is absolutely horrible the staff was okay for the must part but the activity department was a mess the director would have the activity assistant working like a slave then the director would talk behind her back as if she were not human I was a resident there for rehab and I have never been so displeased with my surroundings I Would not recommend this place to any one.

Wish I had checked this site prior to checking my wife in for rehab.

This place has the worst administrative and management staff I have ever encountered. Phone calls not returned, even from the Administrator. Still having problems with insurance claim after 3 1/2 months and there refusal to refund overcharge.

My mom has only been in this facility for a short time; however, I am more than pleased with what I have seen so far. Somehow, most of my visits have been around mealtime and my mother has practically cleaned her plate every time! I get frequent updates about Mom from the nursing staff, and the office staff was extremely wonderful (especially considering I was admitting my Mom on Christmas Eve). My mother has Alzheimer's, so when I was called to fill in some blanks for the Activities department about my mom's history, I was thrilled to find out she has made some new friends and visits around the facility. The entire staff has turned an extremely stressful situation into a shining moment for my family!

My mom has been in this facility for over 3 years now and while there was a few month stretch late last year to early this year (prior to and just after Septer aquired the facility) we have both been extremely happy with the care mom has received. When mom was first place at "Parkwood" I have to say it was totally the best place around and then the place went a bit down hill right before the change in ownership, there have still been some issues since the new owners (Septer Health & Rehab) took over but they address the problems quickly and efficently. Overall I have been extremly pleased with the nursing staff to include CNA's. My real complaint is the kitchen staff and the way the feeding schedule goes along with poor quality food at times (is getting much much better since Septer took over)but still has room for corrections, they also need to make sure the food served is the temp it should be which is a huge issue and they seem to be extremly disorganized when placing the trays on the carts as I know most of the time my mom will wait a full 20-30 minutes after her room mates are served (they eat in their rooms) until she receives her tray…makes little to no sense. The rehab team has been super everytime mom has had rehab and while there was a period of time with a lot of turn over in the nursing staff/cna's that seems to have slowed down now and we have a really great team again. Anyone that thinks this is a bad place should go visit the one on Lester Rd. in Lilburn…now that is a bad nursing home with abuse…you will not find abuse here and if you ever are unhappy call Zack right away and get him involved! That is what he is there for and he will get to the bottom of any issue you have big or small.

Is this a perfect place like your loved ones home??? Likely not but then we are unable to care for our loved ones ourselves or they would not be here so the best thing to do is visit often call and speak to your loved one every day if possible and make yourself known, attend the family meetings and voice your opinions and your concerns, get to know the staff and let them get to know you, decorate your family members room so they feel at home and less stressed and as I said before call Zack if you need anything at all he will address your concerns I promise no matter how little they may seem (I know this 1st hand).

    Good luck and stay involved!

This is the worse place I have ever experienced. Not enough help, unclean areas. Cna's don't come to check on patients, we always had to ask. Have to ask for things like a clean washcloth or towel. Nurse supervisors are very uncarning. If you want to just dump your loved one then this is your place. My father went there for rehab and we decided to take him out before his 20 days was up.When you ask a nurse or anyone about the care of your loved one they seem to always be on the defensive. Look around and don't use Scepter in Snellville if you care about your family getting good care.

We were taken on a tour of the rehab center & given every hope & promise that Dad would be taken care of. One week later he was readmitted to the hospital 100% dehydrated. The inside of his thighs were also very inflamed. What is a person with an elderly parent supposed to believe? We will always regret putting our dad through that.

I do not see how opinions can differ so much. My mom has been there twice this year and received excellent care. She has been in the rehab section. It may have older furnishings which are being replaced however it is very clean and cleaning is done daily. No odors at all. The RN care is very good. The only weakness I see is the Doctors that take care of the patients. You never get to see them and they seem to over ride some of the medicines which Primary Doctors have prescribed.

  • Parkside Post Acute and Rehabilitation Snellville, Georgia 30078

I agree they are awful!!! My father has been there for three weeks and is now in a hospital with pneumonia due to their neglect. The place is filthy, the help is nonchalant and they don't really give a hoot about you or your relative that is in rehab.

This place needs an overhaul and the government needs to know what's going on there.

I refuse to let anymore of my tax dollars go into a place like this without letting someone that can do something about them - know about it.

We were going to use Scepter Health & Rehab of Snellville, Llc as a rehab center following my mother-in-law's knee replacement surgery.

When we checked in, the room was filthy, compared to what we expected for a medical facility - urine in the toilet, used adult diapers in the trash. They were not prepared with prescribed pain medicine.

I returned to Scepter Health & Rehab of Snellville, Llc a couple of hours after checkin only to find all the "help" gathered around the nurses station. It appeared that only one person was really working with the residents.

There is a huge difference between daytime staff and nighttime staff.

Before I arrived, my Mother-in-law requested assistance for her room-mate. It took 40 minutes for someone to come to the room. At that point, Staff humiliated the older resident for messing her pants, reducing her to tears.

We checked out Mom after 3 hours.

Avoid this place like the plague
