Review of Winter Haven Health and Rehabilitation Center

4 Star User Review

My mother has been in Winter Haven Health and Rehab for less than three weeks. She has spent the majority of her time in the lockdown ward. This area for Alzheimer and other patients with dementia is unpleasant and almost scary, though the staff on the ward seems to be interested in patient safety and caring (for the most part).

Overall, the facility is clean and doesn't have the "nursing home" smell that you find in some places. This is not the Taj Mahal, but seems to be pretty well run and the staff works hard to keep the patients happy and comfortable, especially on the regular floor.

I have had consistent challenges with the social worker who will not return calls and tries to bully the family into doing all her work, but unequivocally I give kudos to everyone else who I have had contact with who works there (from the receptionist, to the nursing staff, food aides and administrative personnel.)

If my mother can't be home, there is no other place locally I would want her to be.
