  • Magnolia Health and Rehabilitation Center Sarasota, Florida 34239

Very uncaring workers. Our longtime friend is in there and sat in wet clothes for 2.5 hours. I asked 8 people for help and they all passed the buck. Today when he was transported from the hospital to Magnolia he fell ( it was an accident) The people who transported him asked a nurse for help and to clean his wounds and she walked away and 1 hour later an aid finally cleaned his wound. They do need better training and where is the head nurse, manager etc. . He also was suppose to have a Cpap for tonight. We were told they has one and they did not. He can die from their mistakes. I think most of the help needs to be fired and better trained people should be working there. They really need to be shut down and all new people hired and they need to be investigated. I really need it to be 0 stars but I can say the place is clean but that's all.

  • Life Care Center of Sarasota Sarasota, Florida 34243

Horrible, absolutely horrible, my husband had no care, rude and uncaring staff, the same food for 3 days in a row (and it wasn't good), he was throwing up and had diarrhea and nobody cared that he was getting dehydrated. Nobody came when called. After I complained and was promised things would change it just got worse. Run, run if you love your relative.

  • Life Care Center of Sarasota Sarasota, Florida 34243

I just spent one week as a rehab in-patient in January, 2017, after a total knee replacement surgery. and am now attending Physical Therapy there as an out-patient.

I was totally impressed with the remarkable and professional care and compassion I received from every member of the staff in the Ringling Orthopedic Wing…from the doctor, nurses, aides, dining staff, physical therapists, and volunteers. No matter the hour, my needs were continually met swiftly with a smile and support, my questions answered, and my concerns addressed. Recovering from knee replacement surgery is painful, but the staff at LCC made it as easy as possible.

I would recommend the facility to anybody in need of a rehab center, and would definitely use it again when I have the other need done.

  • Crossbreeze Care Center Sarasota, Florida 34230

My mother was a resident at Crossbreeze for two years plus. I cannot say enough about the staff and administration at this facility. No matter what situation arose they were in contact with me, helpful, professional, COMPASSIONATE, caring and considerate. THIS FACILITY IS A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH. When you walk in you can see that the residents are cared for, you can smell that the place is well maintained and you can feel the love. My mother recently passed away and everyone went above and beyond with her care, support for my family and myself, tears, hugs and prayers.

No one and no place is perfect….but for our family we are pleased with the care and love mom received. Many residents became good friends with my mother. They all continue to be in my heart forever and a day…..residents AND the entire staff. This will be the place I choose for myself when that chapter of my life comes around.

  • Springs at Lake Pointe Woods Sarasota, Florida 34231

I visited the facility and found it very poorly run……an older lady showed me around and was very nice but when I wanted to bring my mother there they were rude and turned us away….for no reason with all these privacy laws they were looking into where my mother was…….bottom line stay away n

  • Hawthorne Health and Rehab of Sarasota Sarasota, Florida 34235

Over worked, understaffed in my opinion. Your loved one will be cared for mostly by young and in my opinion uneducated CNA's. They were not familiar with my grandmothers charts. One came in and asked which leg was broken. SHE DID NOT HAVE A BROKEN LEG. She died after a fall in their care a little over 24 hours after arriving. They claim they found her that way upon doing rounds. I have no closure as to what really happened. She was fine when I left her a few hours later. She was reading the paper and smiling.

  • Hawthorne Health and Rehab of Sarasota Sarasota, Florida 34235

Staff is not able to handle people with health conditions in my opinion. None of their CNA's familiarized themselves with his charts and conditions. He would tell me he frequently was left in the bathroom at night and forgot about. He told me no one would come when he pushed the buttons. He died while in their care. It is sad too because he was suppose to be transferred the next day due to the concerns the family had over his care. We have consulted an attorney. It appears he may have been given the wrong medication.

  • Hawthorne Health and Rehab of Sarasota Sarasota, Florida 34235

This place needs a serious overhaul and internal investigation in my opinion. There are many safety concerns I witnessed while there. One patient was almost given the wrong medication if the spouse was not there to correct them. She was my roommate. They also do not have enough safety measures in place to prevent accidents. No one would respond to the call lights sometimes. Especially in the over night shifts. The times the did respond were very lengthy. One time I waited 45 minutes for them to respond. I was left in the bathroom that whole time! I was on a diabetic diet and they did not give me diabetic food. One night for dinner I had a cold sandwich made with regular bread and grocery store baloney. I did not have one good meal the whole time I was there. If I had not had my family hire a outside caregiver I am not sure I would have made it out alive. The staff there seems very untrained and some are very unprofessional. They treated me like I was a burden each time I needed to use the bathroom. I am not a complainer and was very nice to them. I feel I needed to complain this time on this review. I need to let people know not to send their loved ones there until safety and training issues are addressed. Hopefully if enough people review this place we can prevent a tragedy from happening. This place is deceiving because it is beautiful on the outside and inside. I wish I could say the same about the safety and quality of care.

  • Hawthorne Health and Rehab of Sarasota Sarasota, Florida 34235

Beautiful brand new facility that is unfortunately poorly run from the top down; employees seem unhappy and overworked; there is a general "cold" feeling to the place; disappointing for such a state of the art facility; maybe this posting will help the owners reassess the management to help improve this facility and make a better place for residents.

  • Heartland Health Care Center - North Sarasota Sarasota, Florida 34237

I wish to share with you that thanks to Lutheran Services, they assisted me in rescuing my younger sister Susan and most importantly bringing her to safe harbor at Heartland North where she remained in a wonderful caring community for the last year of her life.

Heartland North in Sarasota is an amazing Rehab/long term care facility with the most loving attitude I have ever encountered and I have had a lot of experience here In Sarasota as all of my current clients are over 80 and I have spent time in over 20 nursing homes in the past ten years.

From my first meeting with Whitney in Admissions to all of the many caregivers and nurses especially Renee & Ishmael, Rehab Laura Lee, Pat the social worker, and Keith the Director of Nursing as well as Tony the assistant director of nursing, Deb, MDS and even the dietary Mgr. Jane, Everyone was so very involved in her care.

She was only 55 when she entered Heartland and 56 when she passed last month. I was never turned away by anyone whenever I had a question or concern. I was made to feel welcome by the staff as I was there almost every day for the past year. The director, Icelia was always walking the hallways and open to any conversation or concern that I might have.

And the smiling angel at the front desk, Tracy always made you feel welcome as she greeted each person with a warm hello and a push of that buzzer to let you in.

I am so confident of the care that all receive here that I even brought my dear friend Margaret 86 years old there to share a room with my sister when she had her rehab from a bad fall and I have referred another long time client to rehab there at the end of this month. I would not hesitate to refer anyone I loved dearly to Heartland; their name reflects their intention and what they do best.

    Sincerely,

    Rev. April Mast

  • Heartland Health Care Center - North Sarasota Sarasota, Florida 34237

This place is horrible!!!! My mom has been at this hell hole since her massive stroke. Several times when I've visited, staff members have been sitting around, not doing their job. Tonight, when I walked in, it was the usual person, sitting there on the couch, which I thought nothing of up until My mother informed me that the staff there, her CNA for the night, had left her soiled (FECAL MATTER) in her bed, since 5pm, I visited around 8:30pm! This is not the first incident or the first time they have ignored my mother's pleas to be cleaned. I have spoken with the Facility Director each time there is an issue and they still do nothing with their staff. This time I was able to take a video of the incident as it was unfolding. When I questioned my mother what had happened she explained to me that she notified her CNA that she was soiled, the CNA left the room and didn't come back. She then pushed the call box for the CNA again, requesting to be changed from her soiled bed and clothing, only this time, my mother had reached down and put her hand in her pants to show the staff she was soiled, with fecal matter on her hand. The nurse then proceeded to give my mother a towel for her left hand, knowing that she cannot use her right hand (it is weak and non functioning due to her stroke), and the nurse left the room again, and did not return! As I questioned the nurse at the front desk, I was sure to take video of our conversation as evidence, since this facility and their staff, clearly don't care about the residents, or their jobs! ***specifics***My mother Irene, has been a patient at Heartland North facility since December 22, 2013. January 28, 2014 the nurses and staff left my mother in bed, soiled all night. I called the Facility Director and din't get to speak with him until a few days had passed. He told me that he had spoken to his "staff member" and assured me it wouldn't happen again. February 20-25, 2013 the staff there started to give my mother meds "to help her sleep". March 5, 2014 my mother Irene got pneumonia from aspirating food. March 12, 2014, my mother, Irene had a black eye, which the nurses and staff assured me was from her glasses. March 20, 2014 the facility stopped giving my mother physical therapy, ot and speech, which is still very much needed, with very little explanation as to why. March 23, 2014, my mother fell and had a bruised cheek and black eye from her fall, which the facility director explained as an "accident while at the lunchroom table". March 26, 2014 my mothers face was still very badly bruised. April 6, 2014, my mother was complaining of pain in her right side, as the nurses explained to me that it might be the feeling coming back from the nerves that were damaged during the stroke, they promised me they'd take care of her and give her some pain meds. April 19, 2014, my mom was still complaining of pain in her arm and leg (right side) and that the meds were not helping much, pain was at lvl 8. I watched the nurse give my mother tramadol. April 20, 2014 my mother seemed extremely depressed and begged and cried for me to remove her from this facility! April 22, 2014, My mother informed me that the staff there hadn't washed her hair nor given her a shower in days! April 24, 2014, my mom was more depressed than ever! May 2, 2014 the nurses and staff left my mother soiled in her bed again!

  • Tarpon Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Sarasota, Florida 34235

My mother was admitted here. Excellent staff. Very good therapy department, I brought up some concerns regarding the food, this was resolved by the administrator. Very friendly staff. She was there for 3 weeks, now home and living independently. Thanks Tarpon for the great job.

  • Benderson Family Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center Sarasota, Florida 34235

I am a researcher studying aging and memory, so have seen a broad gamut of different facilities. Benderson's staff and facilities are top-notch, with a good layout, caring people, and well organized procedures. Front desk answers phone promptly, individual phones in rooms. Bathrooms are well laid out, aides do a good prompt job assisting in bathing/toilet use/brushing teeth etc. Activities of daily living are assessed multiple times daily, full range of physical and occupational therapy on floor (also a great outpatient clinic on first floor). There are limits to what can be humanly done, but neglect or lack of proper attitude is NOT a problem at Benderson's. Kosher diet was a delight, with excellent nutrition.

As a native of Sarasota, now living afar, it was very reassuring the quality of care my mother received at this fine facility. Made her return home after some weeks of therapy a reality.

  • Brookdale Palmer Ranch Skilled Nursing Facility Sarasota, Florida 34238

A one star rating is too many, but no stars was not an option.

I was told that the Palmer Ranch Place was one of the best nursing homes in Sarasota, so I was happy when my father was accepted into the facility, and the place was beautiful. My opinion quickly changed when I realized that my father was being abused. I noticed that he was acting very strangely after only one day. I asked one of the nurses which medicines he was giving him, and he showed me a list of narcotics that I had NOT given permission to dispense. I immediately told the nurse to stop those medications and I assumed my father would return to his normal self.

Unfortunately, things went from bad to worse. My father turned completely insane in a matter of 72 hours; he was unaware of his surroundings and I became frightened for his well-being. I spoke to several of the nurses that were on staff and they didn't seem concerned. A day later, I received a call from Palmer Ranch Place that my father had been transported to the emergency room for disorientation and combative behavior. I rushed to the hospital and the nurse at the hospital informed me that my father's catheter was not emptied the entire time he was staying at Palmer Ranch Place (which was a total of 4 days), and that the hospital staff emptied three liters of urine from his bladder! They explained to me that if he had gone any longer without relieving himself, his bladder would have exploded. Immediately after his bladder was emptied, he returned to his sane self. The fact that the staff there never checked his urine output the entire time of his stay there, was unfathomable.

I expect a nursing home to treat our loved ones with care; I was not going to tolerate the abuse and neglect that my father received, and I will never recommend this nursing home to anyone. I hope that this review will serve as a warning to others so that this will never happen to someone you love. As well, I can't help but think about those residents that don't have a health care surrogate to speak on their behalf.

  • Benderson Family Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center Sarasota, Florida 34235

My father is currently receiving rehab there post a frontal lobe infarct. The admission process went smoothly, they spoke to my father in a caring, concerned way. He receives daily PT, OT, and Speech therapy from smiling, professional individuals. The food is 5 star and the facility is spotless. We are so thankful he is there. Thank you.

My mom stayed one week: couldn't get results from test that had been back for 2 days; asked if "doctor" advertised as being on staff 24 hrs would call and corrected that they have a "Practicioner" during the week and doc for only one day, would not call me on the phone with results….thinking this odd, after talking until I was blue to please start off in rehab where the acute rehab facility left off, my mom wound up in a wheel chair for a week loosing everything that was gain. By the end of the week, after informing that she would be moving, they sent her to hospital after reviewing test results that I asked about 2 days earlier (that were back and on a clip board). After 6 hours at the hospital, the ER doc said that she did not need to come in. Go figure. There were other incidents, but these were the biggies to me……..blowing off a family member that is very active in her mom's care was not the way to go.

  • Heartland Health Care Center - North Sarasota Sarasota, Florida 34237

Facility clean but lack of information to family was nonexistent until visiting everyday for three weeks. We had a review. That was good. Phone desk is minimal. Patients sit about in narrow hallways. Lounge? Public areas are minimal. Still waiting until patient gets out of room to assess.

My 72 yr old mother has had excellent care. She is in the Alheimers unit. The aides and nurses are very caring and seem to want to help the patients be as comfortable as possible. Whenever I ask to change something or just have questions they are very accomadating,
