Review of Port Charlotte Rehabilitation Center

The food was terrible. My elderly father stopped eating and lost 25 pounds. If you can't get out of bed on your own, it can take up to 45 minutes for staff to respond to a call to go to the bathroom. Staff complains about their jobs in front of clients. Rooms are very small and a wheelchair won't fit into the bathroom. They won't fix broken items like a tv until you make a fuss. Granted, a tv is a minor issue, but when you are bed bound in a room for 4-6 weeks, a tv can be something to make it more tolerable. They sent my dad to a doctor appointment without anyone with him and it was a terrible experience. They didn't tell my mother that he had a doctor appointment until 45 minutes before the appointment. When my dad's doctor appointment was over, it took the transportation company over 1 1/2 hours from calling them to pick him up.

The reason we chose this facility was because they have one-on-one Physical Therapy. The Physical Therapists were good. Other places the patients are in a group. In my opinion, it wasn't worth it for the one-on-one therapy.
