Review of Lake Mary Health and Rehabilitation Center

1 Star User Review

Took two weeks before admissions went over admission documents for signing. Never did have an orientation session. It was two weeks before a care plan meeting was set up. It appears Rehab does not work well with alzheimers patients who are aggressive and they called in a psychiatrist who quickly prescribes the drug Risperal instead of observing the patient for fear and confusion traits that first week. My mom had lived in her home for 80 years and was not used to a foreign place with people touching and directing her all the time. I know that dealing with aggression is very hard for everyone concerned but don't think a drug will fix everything. My mother was able to walk until her partial hip surgery. I sent her to this rehab center just to heal from surgery and be able to walk again. After three weeks she is barely able to walk and the excuse is her behavior. They are advising the family to either put her on this drug or they will contact Medicare and say the family is not cooperating with this facility. Her current meds were prescribed by a doctor who specializes in dementia and I trust him over this facility's cursory review of my mom's behavior.
