Review of Heartland Health Care and Rehabilitation Center Of

1 Star User Review

My Father was admitted to Heartland of Boca Raton in July. He was sent there after being released from the Hospital to receive Physical Therapy and to recover from surgery to repair a perforated colon. The one and ONLY positive thing I can say about this facility is that the physical therapy is incredible. The facility is absolutely filthy. I found chewed gum behind his nightstand and the door frame was so stained of which looked like dried up blood! The nurses are so incredibly rude to the patients that my mother and I would find ourselves roaming the halls to talk to the other patients just to comfort them. Their care for their patients is non existent. My Dad was put on a colostomy bag after his surgery and this was something that was difficult to get used to. My Mom and I walked into his room on a few occasions to find my Dad sitting in his chair in waste because his bag had broken. One of his roomates advised us that on one occasion he had to sit for over 45 minutes until a nurse came to clean him up and change his bag. This became so regular that my Dad had to be re admitted to the hospital for a wound infection. My Dad did have lots of health issues one being his was Diabetic. I was visiting one day when the nurse came in and took his blood to test his sugar. We got a little busy visiting but after a few hours I asked my Dad if they came back with his insulin and he said NO! I had to go to the nurses station and ask them to check his records to see when the last time he had been given his insulin was. After a little attitude from the nurse they finally came in. I can honestly go on and on however, it will not help. My Dad did pass away on July 19,2012. I just remember saying to my Husband after my Dad's passing "Thank God he does not have to go back to that rehab center!" I beg of you if you or a loved one need more than just physical therapy after a stay in the hospital PLEASE look into another facility. You will come out of this one sicker than you went in.
