Review of Encore at Boca Raton Rehabilitation and Nursing Continuing Education

3 Star User Review

My husband was in Whitehall briefly. The physical therapy and occupational therapy staff and facilities were outstanding and thoroughly professional. There were some good people on staff, but there were also some cold and uncaring people on staff. The dynamics among the staff members (on the unit) are strange, with a lot of what seem like turf issues. Whitehall looked much better on the surface -- when I toured -- than when my husband was actually there. The bed was cheap and extremely uncomfortable (important when you have to spend so much time in bed and are very sick). It was noisy all night, and the walls were so thin my husband said that listening to people turn over at night was like hearing soldiers turn in their bunks in a barracks (even though the rooms are semi-private). We were told that residents would use wireless headphones to watch TV at night, but this didn't happen. His roommate's TV blared late into the night, and one of the colder CNAs scolded my husband for asking about it and said, "If he wants to watch TV til midnight that's what he will do!" He was unable to get any sleep at all. I think the owners and top-level staff really want to make Whitehall and exceptional place, but are unaware of what actually happens down at ground level, in terms of how patients/residents are treated on the unit. From all I've heard, it is the best facility in South Florida, but I hope I never have to enter a skilled nursing facility.
