Review of Regents Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center

1 Star User Review

The grounds are pretty and overall the place is cheery and well decorated. However if your family member requires skilled nursing care, look elsewhere because the patient to staff ratio is simply too great and RNs + aides do not pay attention to an individual's needs. My mother was in for just 6 days and it took that long before the staff doctor saw her -- ONLY at family insistence. This is unacceptable medical care. When she was finally seen, her diet and chemistry was SO off, she had to be re-admitted to the hospital. We had a family member in every day to advocate but even then, I would rate the facility less than one star I am giving now. Food quality less than one star as well.

My grandmother has been here or one day and we are, within hours, having her removed. They have been moving her around in wheel chair with only one leg/foot rest. She had a hip replacement on the right side of her hip and has absolutely no support on her right leg.. Go figure. These people do not give a crap about the patients here and I feel sorry for every patient here that doesnt have family here with them. The "alert button" for the nurse needs to be pushed at LEAST 30-45minutes before any assistance. Might as well be alone. Very VERY disappointing!

My father was admitted into Regent's Park after a major surgery. When we went to our tour of the rehab facility, we were impressed at the appearance and the grounds. The rehab director Eddie reassured us that my father would be taken care of, even after he was told of the complications that my father had and our concerns for his care. We were told that the facility housed skilled professionals that would be more than able to handle my father's care fully. Almost immediately, my father grew depressed, was agitated and left to deal with his pain, awaiting help and medication from the nurses and nurses aides, while family members were present.

We were informed that my father grew restless at night, was attempting to get out of bed and suffered several falls. My mother was continually called and complained to about my father's nighttime behavior. The calls increased to demands that my mother hire a sitter to stay with my father from 6:00 p.m. through 6:00 a.m., at my mothers expense. The care that we were originally promised was not what we received, the compassion for my father was lacking. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. Do not be fooled by the promises of care that your loved one will receive.

The staff at Regent's Park are overwhelmed. I had to hire a private duty aide to make sure my mother was taken to physical and occupational therapy appointments while she recuperated here following a stroke. Given that this place receives the generous Medicare reimbursement for nursing care after stroke, this should not be the case. If you are far away, as I was, you MUST get someone to advocate for your loved one here, or they will get lost in the shuffle, especially if they need something out of the ordinary, or at night, and their medication, or therapy may suffer.
