Review of St Joseph's Center

1 Star User Review

My mother, who had early dimentia and controlled diabetes, but who was otherwise in physically great shape for being in her mid-80s, lasted one month in the care of Saint Joseph's Manor. She would out-walk anybody. People half her age (like me) would tire before she did. Visiting on a Wednesday, around lunch time, I found her in her room, sitting in a wheel chair, and sluring her speech. I was shocked. She had just been at my home the previous weekend and seemed fine. I asked the nurse what was going on. She said my mother had been up all night and was exhausted. I thought, my mother had been up lots of nights but, I never saw her like this. My mother went down hill quickly and passed four days later on Saturday. We discovered that despite being diabetic they had not been checking her blood sugar - even though diabetes and checking her blood sugar was noted as required in her chart. When they finally did test her blood sugar, her it was higher than the meter would go. After her passing, we filed a complaint with the State. They slapped St. Joseph's on the wrist but, that was about it. Based on this and generally the level of care I witnessed at Saint Joseph's I would not recommend the facility to anyone.
