  • Life Care Center of Aurora Aurora, Colorado 80014

I've had the pleasure of staying here for 1 week. The majority of the staff is pleasant, knowledgeable, and attentive. Almost all present with smiles. Physical therapy, Occupational therapy and Recreational therapy helped me greatly so I was able to go home quickly and safely.

The only thing I see a need for improvement is the kitchen and dining room.

The food is adequate. Sometimes over done. I could imagine if I were there long term it would be frustrating.

I think the kitchen should be open an hour. Most people there need assistance and take longer to eat. It is also a social time. An extra cup of coffee while talking lifts spirits. CNA Staff should be present until everyone is returned to there room.

The care that my mother received was poor at best. Her stay was brief but was a true eye opener for us and we hope that others will take precautions to not have to place their loved ones within this facility. We placed our mother to the center on the recommendation of the hospital. Once dischared and moved to the center things seemed to be OK (not great) but OK. We were told by all the heads of the departments that we would be taking things slow to make sure our mother who had dementia and would be comfortable. After the first week there, things were in full swing of total chaos. We were called several times to come and sit with our mother all day because the facility was not able to keep mom busy and help her adjust to a new environment (funny, we are paying the center to care for or mom but we were still doing most of the care for mom). We got to the point that we were afraid to leave her there once we were told by a couple nurses and CNA's that we needed to take our mother out and care for her ourselves. There were times that we would come to visit mom and she was dirty and even in a diaper at one point. My sister and I were thinking that this was a joke as to what we were being told all the bad things and being asked to keep everything “hushed” for fear that the nurse or CAN would lose their jobs. Then, the director of nursing decided to take matters into her hands because she really knew our mother (after 2 weeks she knew our mother) and put our mother in the locked unit (aka…unit for the criminally insane). Once in that section of the center, we called a meeting with all the department heads and asked why this happened. We were told it was for our mothers safety cause she tried to leave the facility (mind you mom could not walk 5 feet with without her oxygen) again, we were told by another department head that it was illegal to put our mother in the locked unit without our permission (which needed to be signed off by my sister and I), I called a meeting with the rehab center and asked them what was the 30/60/90 day plan and why was our mother moved without our permission. Funny that is when all the finger pointing started. Every excuse in the book was given. At that point we had mom discharged, and brought home where she passed about 8 weeks later. We really feel that the care that was given to her during her stay was poor to the point that her dementia progressed even faster because the facility did not realize that she was experiencing terminal anxiety (director of nursing should have seen that).

So our recommendation is to NOT place any loved one at Summit. Sadly, I don’t have enough room to put everything that happened and believe me you would be scared as we were. And now we are sad because our mother is gone way too soon. She had at least another year of life if we had not placed her in this place.

I visyted this center and found it to be clean and well kept There was a smell as you entered but it was popcorn, I noted the care of a resident who asked for help., the only neiti,e thing I encountered, he wanted some water & the director didn't assist him. I was impressed with the rehab equipment.the staff & the building layout. I look forward to becoming a resident!

OMG this place is horrible the first thing that I noticed was the SMELL. It has really gone down hill it used to be very clean last year and full of life with lots of activities and a staff that cared. Now there is no getting over the smell. ALOT of the Staff has been replaced and the new staff is very uncaring and cold they had no clue where or even who my grandmother was. I am getting my Grandmother out of there pronto… I would give this place no stars if possible.

  • Advanced Health Care of Aurora Aurora, Colorado 80012

Advanced Care of Aurora did a fantastic job with my 84 year old mother, who broke her hip and needed a rehab-only place. First of all, the place is light, spacious, pretty--aesthetically uplifting. The grounds are well maintained and there are nice spaces for visitors to sit, inside and outside the facility. There is free wifi. My mother, who is fairly particular about her care, had no complaints about the staff; indeed, she was uniformly very positive about everyone. The care was professional, attitudes were upbeat and constructive, and she never complained about people not responding to her calls for help or information. The facility takes Medicare and is located in an area of Aurora that is fairly easy to get to.

Lifecare centers lure you in. There are some fantastic staff and great nurses there, and there are some terrible ones. This is to be expected. What is not expected, is when something is wrong they will smile and give you excuses and empty promises. It becomes clear they are a profit center and don't truly care much for the patients or their families. The facility looks nice on the outside, but don't expect them to be certain simple things like phones work in patient rooms. I am appalled myself. I wouldn't feed the food to my dogs, but the chef there thinks its great even though EVERY staff member I have asked refuses to eat it. To be fair I have not spoken to each and every one. Overall, your loved ones may survive, but the experience will take much out of a caring advocate.

I would rate this facility a 1 star. A family member was just discharged recently from this facility. Very depressing and the staff does not care about the patient, it is all about the money). They put patients to bed before 7 PM and the staff does not respond timely to calls for assistance. Many nurses and staff members were more concerned about eating their own meals than taking care of patients in the dining hall. They pushed people down to the dining hall an hour before dinner was served and some of these people could barely function on their own and they were left at a table by themself for an extended time. I was shocked when I arrived to visit with my family member and found the staff was too busy so my family member had to skip a shower (only allowed 2 days a week). Unfortunately it happened several times over the extended period of stay.

You need to think seriously before putting a family member in this facility.

Rating is 1. This is worst place to go for any nursing/rehailltation center. I was their for 6 weeks. I was never go happy to leave. They make you wait hours for medication, bath or care. At night when all the relatives are gone they over medication the old patience. You can hear them yelling for help every night. I had a full knee replacement and was put in a wheel chair. I was hit several times on that knee. NO one cares. Sure they come and talk to you but nothing is done to improve care. Its all about the money

My mother is there for rehab after a knee replacement. Her surgeon required that she be on a machine to move her knee for 8 hours a day. Even after we inquired, we could not get the staff to look into it for 2 days until I finally asked for a supervisor. Then they provided a machine on the third day, it did not fit her and hit her in the groin when it was in operation. It is the night of the third day with no CPM machine in sight and no answers at this point. I may need to move her to be able to get her the rehab requested by her surgeon. So far she has missed 18 hours of movement with the knee that her doctor ordered.

  • University Heights Rehab & Care Aurora, Colorado 80011

High turnover of staff. Lack of effective training to correct issues. Instead of being proactive, Sable is reactive in personnel issues. They fail to identify problems with staff and correct the issues. They will terminate staff and hire new, less experienced individuals to provide care.

As an experienced trainer, it is more cost effective to maintain staff, retrain, educate, and remediate rather than terminate and start over. This is ineffective client care and creates a very low morale issue.

Sable will terminate rather than mediate - who would want to have a career in a workplace that has this type of track record? High turn over = low quality of care! Be very careful of placing a loved one in a facility that has such high turnover. Instead of correcting issues - they eliminate them and bring in young and less experienced pers. to provide care.

  • Cherry Creek Nursing Center Aurora, Colorado 80014

I would not take my worse enemy to this facility. I have visited several patients at different times of the day there and the staff are rude and refuse to help. The patients are not getting taken care of and are even getting worse in the rapid recovery unit. Think again if you are going to place someone you love here.

After a partial right knee replacement on Sept. 21st, I was transfered to

Advanced Health Care of Aurora. This was the best thing that could have

happened to me. I spent 2 weeks there and could bend my knee 125 degrees

when I went home I could never have known all the little things they showed me to bend my knee right. The physical therapists were terrific and I was able to do everything I needed to do. Occupational therapy was also very good.

I would highly recommend this facility.

The care and attention given by all staff at this facility to my mother is excellent. I'm more impressed each time I visit. The facility is beautifully decorated, offers great activities, the food is very good and dining staff cater to individual requests. There is an overall warmth to the place.
