  • Life Care Center of Aurora Aurora, Colorado 80014

I've had the pleasure of staying here for 1 week. The majority of the staff is pleasant, knowledgeable, and attentive. Almost all present with smiles. Physical therapy, Occupational therapy and Recreational therapy helped me greatly so I was able to go home quickly and safely.

The only thing I see a need for improvement is the kitchen and dining room.

The food is adequate. Sometimes over done. I could imagine if I were there long term it would be frustrating.

I think the kitchen should be open an hour. Most people there need assistance and take longer to eat. It is also a social time. An extra cup of coffee while talking lifts spirits. CNA Staff should be present until everyone is returned to there room.

  • Pearl Street Health and Rehabilitation Center Englewood, Colorado 80110

On time medication is a rarity.

Visits by CNA or nursing staff to check on overall needs however, once every three hours.

I've never had a doctor visit me at Pearl Street.

I've had only one visit by a PA in over three weeks.

Dietary requirements for a diabetic and wound healing have never been met and I've had to order supplements from outside sources paid by me directly.

Selections from the meal menu are accurate about one out of eight times. The cooking staff seems to be illiterate.

After bringing up all these complaints with the RNs director of nursing (DON)and the Administrator and the Dietician plus faxing the doctor I have had no resolution.

They're constantly running out of supplies to do my daily wound dressings and I've had to order and supplies from outside sources to make up the difference so the RNs and use them.

Once the regular transport driver is on vacation and I requested a replacement to drive me to my appointment at the local wound clinic, Swedish hospital, and they told me The day before that everything will be taken care of but it was not. I had to reschedule that appointment for when the driver was back, off of vacation, four days later.

The care that my mother received was poor at best. Her stay was brief but was a true eye opener for us and we hope that others will take precautions to not have to place their loved ones within this facility. We placed our mother to the center on the recommendation of the hospital. Once dischared and moved to the center things seemed to be OK (not great) but OK. We were told by all the heads of the departments that we would be taking things slow to make sure our mother who had dementia and would be comfortable. After the first week there, things were in full swing of total chaos. We were called several times to come and sit with our mother all day because the facility was not able to keep mom busy and help her adjust to a new environment (funny, we are paying the center to care for or mom but we were still doing most of the care for mom). We got to the point that we were afraid to leave her there once we were told by a couple nurses and CNA's that we needed to take our mother out and care for her ourselves. There were times that we would come to visit mom and she was dirty and even in a diaper at one point. My sister and I were thinking that this was a joke as to what we were being told all the bad things and being asked to keep everything “hushed” for fear that the nurse or CAN would lose their jobs. Then, the director of nursing decided to take matters into her hands because she really knew our mother (after 2 weeks she knew our mother) and put our mother in the locked unit (aka…unit for the criminally insane). Once in that section of the center, we called a meeting with all the department heads and asked why this happened. We were told it was for our mothers safety cause she tried to leave the facility (mind you mom could not walk 5 feet with without her oxygen) again, we were told by another department head that it was illegal to put our mother in the locked unit without our permission (which needed to be signed off by my sister and I), I called a meeting with the rehab center and asked them what was the 30/60/90 day plan and why was our mother moved without our permission. Funny that is when all the finger pointing started. Every excuse in the book was given. At that point we had mom discharged, and brought home where she passed about 8 weeks later. We really feel that the care that was given to her during her stay was poor to the point that her dementia progressed even faster because the facility did not realize that she was experiencing terminal anxiety (director of nursing should have seen that).

So our recommendation is to NOT place any loved one at Summit. Sadly, I don’t have enough room to put everything that happened and believe me you would be scared as we were. And now we are sad because our mother is gone way too soon. She had at least another year of life if we had not placed her in this place.

I could never recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for good care for their loved one. The staff is unpleasant, unprofessional and uncaring. I have only visited a few times because I live several hours away. My father has a phone but I have never been able to reach him since he is in a wheelchair and it is out of his reach. Asking the nurses or CNAs on his floor to help get him on the line rarely works. It surprises me that they don't know his name when I ask for him. The facility is quite small and he's been there over three years. He sits in a wheelchair in a hallway alll day looking at the elevator. I left voice mails with Karen Kahler, the director, in order to work out a solution where my father could be reached by phone and she doesn't return phone calls. This is sad because my father has no local visitors. I think it shows a lack of compassion on the staff's side as well. It did not surprise me today when I saw that Medicaid and Medicare rate this facility in the bottom twenty percent of facilities in the state of Colorado.

  • Julia Temple Healthcare Center Englewood, Colorado 80113

Do not take your loved ones here. My father hit nurses call button only to be seen and hour and a half later. My fahter has not been bathed or taken a shower in 5 days. My father also had to be taken to sweedish medical center hospital for a simple procedure that the nurses should have known what to do, but didn't. My oter relative went to go visit and got taken to a different room with a patient that had same last name, only to find two patients on the floor with 1 sheet of linen over them and urine on the floor. Disgusting!!!!!!….I have moved my father to a different facility!

  • Julia Temple Healthcare Center Englewood, Colorado 80113

Clean and Caring! My recovery was made possible by the best therapist! Julia Temple is a great rehab where the therapist care about recovery and not the "mighty dollar"! You want whistles and bells go to a place like Azura where they kicked me out early! You want rehab and good care, go see Jennifer and Nancy at Julia Temple! I made it home!

  • Julia Temple Healthcare Center Englewood, Colorado 80113

Everyone knows the patients by name and what our preferences are. The staff is attentive to our needs. I feel comfortable at Julia Temple because I have gotten to know the other patients well and we have become friends. The food is good, and it's comfort food….not "fancy" prepared. More homestyle. There are choices outside of the menu. The therapy is awesome. The rooms are clean.

DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONES IN THIS FACILITY. Tonight paramedics were called to take my mother to the ER. After they got there, they began looking around for a nurse or someone to get full details from as to why they called them for my mother, however, no one was around. A CNA finally showed up, shoved papers at them, and said she was "going to lunch" and left the paramedics and my mother locked on the floor. The floor was empty, no medical staff NO ANYONE, anywhere to be found. I have brought the 'empty floor' to their attention before and was assured this would never happen again. Well, they lied,

  • Orchard Park Health Care Center Littleton, Colorado 80121

My mom just left Orchard Park. It was the worst experience we have ever gone through but we were dictated by insurance to go here. The staffing was deplorable at best. Several times my mom waited over an hour for her call light to be answered. We never had complaints dealth with, they also admitted my mom with a virus in their building and didn't notify us in advance. The nurses are often rude, you could hear them complain about their jobs and the patients from the room. It felt like cattle shoved in a room. My mom was forced to go to the dining room and eat with people who were oftne unkept and smelled of urine. The facility was dirty many times and rarely did we see house keeping actually do more than empty trash. My mom had to go to a shared bathroom for her bathing that smelled of urine. She stated she would rather not even bathe. We experienced horrible customer service and horrible communication. If you love your family spare them from ever having to go to this place. It was a nightmare. 01/2013

  • Cherry Creek Nursing Center Aurora, Colorado 80014

I visyted this center and found it to be clean and well kept There was a smell as you entered but it was popcorn, I noted the care of a resident who asked for help., the only neiti,e thing I encountered, he wanted some water & the director didn't assist him. I was impressed with the rehab equipment.the staff & the building layout. I look forward to becoming a resident!

  • Cherry Creek Nursing Center Aurora, Colorado 80014

OMG this place is horrible the first thing that I noticed was the SMELL. It has really gone down hill it used to be very clean last year and full of life with lots of activities and a staff that cared. Now there is no getting over the smell. ALOT of the Staff has been replaced and the new staff is very uncaring and cold they had no clue where or even who my grandmother was. I am getting my Grandmother out of there pronto… I would give this place no stars if possible.

  • Suites at Someren Glen Care Center, The Littleton, Colorado 80122

My family and I were extremely impressed by the care our elderly father received during his 6 week stay recovering from surgery. The staff were positive, responsive, and very tender providing the care he required.

The Christian community element was also very comforting.

Thanks to the RN's, CNA's, and support team. We very much appreciate you.

  • Pearl Street Health and Rehabilitation Center Englewood, Colorado 80110

Rosina K.07/03/12 - 07/23/12 received less than desireable "Nursing Assistant" care; the night care was less than satisfactory. "it only take one BAD apple to poison the pot…"

" We should like to have seen the record of the length & comprehensive training of the nursing assistants"

    3 of 5 rating RHK-englewood resident & daughter of Rosina K.

  • Advanced Health Care of Aurora Aurora, Colorado 80012

Advanced Care of Aurora did a fantastic job with my 84 year old mother, who broke her hip and needed a rehab-only place. First of all, the place is light, spacious, pretty--aesthetically uplifting. The grounds are well maintained and there are nice spaces for visitors to sit, inside and outside the facility. There is free wifi. My mother, who is fairly particular about her care, had no complaints about the staff; indeed, she was uniformly very positive about everyone. The care was professional, attitudes were upbeat and constructive, and she never complained about people not responding to her calls for help or information. The facility takes Medicare and is located in an area of Aurora that is fairly easy to get to.

  • Cherrelyn Healthcare Center Littleton, Colorado 80120

CNA to resident ratio is anywhere from 12 to 15 residents per CNA. Call lights are frequently not answered for up to half an hour. Residents are calling for help from their rooms and wheelchairs. Medication errors have happened with sorrowful consequences. Staff training is poor. It's not a complete hell hole but if I could move my loved one I sure would but this place takes Medicaid and it's tough to move a non-ambulatory person with Alzheimers.

  • Life Care Center of Aurora Aurora, Colorado 80014

Lifecare centers lure you in. There are some fantastic staff and great nurses there, and there are some terrible ones. This is to be expected. What is not expected, is when something is wrong they will smile and give you excuses and empty promises. It becomes clear they are a profit center and don't truly care much for the patients or their families. The facility looks nice on the outside, but don't expect them to be certain simple things like phones work in patient rooms. I am appalled myself. I wouldn't feed the food to my dogs, but the chef there thinks its great even though EVERY staff member I have asked refuses to eat it. To be fair I have not spoken to each and every one. Overall, your loved ones may survive, but the experience will take much out of a caring advocate.

  • Life Care Center of Aurora Aurora, Colorado 80014

I would rate this facility a 1 star. A family member was just discharged recently from this facility. Very depressing and the staff does not care about the patient, it is all about the money). They put patients to bed before 7 PM and the staff does not respond timely to calls for assistance. Many nurses and staff members were more concerned about eating their own meals than taking care of patients in the dining hall. They pushed people down to the dining hall an hour before dinner was served and some of these people could barely function on their own and they were left at a table by themself for an extended time. I was shocked when I arrived to visit with my family member and found the staff was too busy so my family member had to skip a shower (only allowed 2 days a week). Unfortunately it happened several times over the extended period of stay.

You need to think seriously before putting a family member in this facility.

  • Life Care Center of Aurora Aurora, Colorado 80014

Rating is 1. This is worst place to go for any nursing/rehailltation center. I was their for 6 weeks. I was never go happy to leave. They make you wait hours for medication, bath or care. At night when all the relatives are gone they over medication the old patience. You can hear them yelling for help every night. I had a full knee replacement and was put in a wheel chair. I was hit several times on that knee. NO one cares. Sure they come and talk to you but nothing is done to improve care. Its all about the money

  • Life Care Center of Aurora Aurora, Colorado 80014

My mother is there for rehab after a knee replacement. Her surgeon required that she be on a machine to move her knee for 8 hours a day. Even after we inquired, we could not get the staff to look into it for 2 days until I finally asked for a supervisor. Then they provided a machine on the third day, it did not fit her and hit her in the groin when it was in operation. It is the night of the third day with no CPM machine in sight and no answers at this point. I may need to move her to be able to get her the rehab requested by her surgeon. So far she has missed 18 hours of movement with the knee that her doctor ordered.

  • Julia Temple Healthcare Center Englewood, Colorado 80113

If you want good care for your loved one, DO NOT send them here.

My Mother, who has dementia, had the same clothes on for 4 days, they do not clean her teeth for her, and who knows how long it has been since they washed her hair or body!

The food they serve is in HUGE chunks and they expect the residents to fend for themselves, I definitely would not want them to have knives, just make the food in smaller bite sized pieces for them!! Also, she was so thirsty, her tongue was bright red from being so dry!

Just remember employees of Julia Temple….you or your loved one will be in this situation someday! Show some respect and maintain dignity for the elderly! It breaks my heart to see anyone being treated like that!

  • University Heights Rehab & Care Aurora, Colorado 80011

High turnover of staff. Lack of effective training to correct issues. Instead of being proactive, Sable is reactive in personnel issues. They fail to identify problems with staff and correct the issues. They will terminate staff and hire new, less experienced individuals to provide care.

As an experienced trainer, it is more cost effective to maintain staff, retrain, educate, and remediate rather than terminate and start over. This is ineffective client care and creates a very low morale issue.

Sable will terminate rather than mediate - who would want to have a career in a workplace that has this type of track record? High turn over = low quality of care! Be very careful of placing a loved one in a facility that has such high turnover. Instead of correcting issues - they eliminate them and bring in young and less experienced pers. to provide care.
