Elness is by far the worst. They keep their patients so knocked out on meds it's more like Psychiatric crazy ward. I witnessed my Mother inlaw fall last week. The LVNs were of no help.. I had to beg them to call a Doctor. Then had to insist she be taken to emergency!! I was told by the EMT's it would be in her best interest to locate a better nursing home. Which we are in the process of doing.

The Director Don Wellner had the audacity to try to blame me for her fall. He was extremely defensive when I noted that my mother in~law in her lethargic state should not at anytime be allowed to walk to the bathroom unattended.

He looked at his staff and asked if she always went to the bathroom with out assistance.. One of the LVn's said absolutely NOT! The other one said yes!! So who are we to believe? The staff was also reprimanded by the EMT that was attending to her for lying to my Mother inlaw.. Please do not place your loved one in Elness… There are many other time I witnessed improper care.. I will post more later.. I urge all who read this to PLEASE do research before you make a decision on a care facility..

My grandmother has been in this facility for 4 years. She has been in the hospital twice since January of 2012. She has had mulitiple bruises and abrasions. She has experienced numerous falls resulting in wounds to her head, legs or arms.

Friends have visited her and stated on one occasion the bathroom floor was covered with feces. A house keeping person was called who mopped a small area only swirling the feces around. He walked out into the hall with feces on his feet, and the bathroom not cleaned. The friend complained to the desk without immediate response. Eventually, someone responded and cleaned the area. I would imagine it was very unsanitary to walk this stuff into the hall.

I have visited when the floors were sticky and bedding soiled with food that had been there for some time.

I have heard people begging for care without response.

I have no power to have her removed, but I would strongly suggest if you have a loved one at Elness relocate them. This place is a horror.

No stars…I could not remove the stars.

Terrible place to allow anyone to stay for even one night!

They leave their patients begging for their diapers to be changed for hours upon hours. No matter how many time I asked while making a visit they never changed anyone in the room of 4 patients and two patients were begging for more then an hour the either time I was there. I even complained and nothing was done.

This place should be shut down.

My mother suffered a stroke resulting in left-side paralysis, but with the great care of the care staff and PT/OT/Speech Group at TNRC, she was able to barely use a walker by the time she left - we consider this a great victory! All staff were caring, personable, and professional, and seemed to have up-to-date training. It was interesting to watch their technique progression as Mom improved. It is, however, still best to have an advocate to keep tabs on services such as regular bathing and toileting and PT scheduling. Mom was there for 90 days, so these services sometimes fell thru the cracks, though not often. The big negative was that she had a dangerous 10-day bout with C. difficile diarrhea while at TNRC, which is easily spread in a communal facility by contaminated hands. Hospitals have made it their mission to prevent the spread of this highly contagious bacteria by enforcing stringent hand sanitizing procedures. Housekeeping was mediocre at best.
