This was a horrible place to have my father stay, there isn't one good thing I can say other than it looks nice from the outside. Once you enter, you have a dark cloud lurking over your head until you get back out. The nurses never listen to what you have to say. You have to tell them the same story everyday and still the night shift nurses never follow-up. There is poor communication. One of the nurses told me that the director of nursing has been replaced several times this year and that's why there is no consistency. The same nurse told me that she always works more than her scheduled 8 hours and doesn't get paid for it, and because they are all overworked, they can't help my dad on time when his call light goes off. On a brighter note, most of the physical therapy people are a great help and voiced out my concerns, probably the only reason we stayed until m father got better. One of the physical therapist who spoke with an accent really helped us out, the others were helpful as well; with the exception of one who always talked in loud spanish and never paid any attention to my dad, we requested several times not to have her because she overworked my dad even though he is 91<--beware of her! The food was terrible, never what is on the card. we told them that he cant have salt but they always added it and we told them he needs utensils, an they were never there, the therapists always had to let the kitchen know, which i dont think is their job. some of the nurses were good in cleaning my dad, others were rough. overall it was a horrible experience, im glad my dad has dementia and doesn't remember it much, but we do. Avoid this place at all cost, you can get better treatment in other facilities like kindred.

Beware of this place. It is "pretty" and "dressed up", but the care is substandard. If you are diabetic, your blood sugar will frequently be out of whack. Patients are given insulin injections more than an hour before breakfast is served. A patient was overdosed on insulin (because the nurse did not adhere to the sliding scale instructions) and then pumped full of sugary liquids to keep from "bottoming out". Most of the nurses here a new graduates (meaning they have less than one year of experience) and are given a crash course, rather than any quality or preceptored training. The physicians are only paid to see the patient once a month, and they pretty much stick to that schedule unless hard pressed to do otherwise. The nurses begrudgingly work overtime without pay because they are understaffed, and it is impossible to perform the many duties within an 8 hour shift. They are afraid to challenge the mgmt, who is very aware of this practice. Corners are always cut, and medication errors, and lack of patient assessment are the norm. Emeritus has been fined by the state, in large amounts for various violations. This is not a good place for nursing care, or for employment. They simply look good losing.

Emeritus in San Dimas appears to discriminate against those who are under medicare/medical. My mother did not receive the attention nor care that a basic facility should offer. They pride themselves as treating your family as theirs, but nothing can be further from the truth. During my mother's stay, they did not give her scheduled baths, they failed to wash her clothes, and did not assist her in her bathroom needs. However, other people who were of non latino descent, received better food and attention. People beware, the staff at one point told me that my mother complained too much. This to me is unacceptable, especially when they fail to change my mother's diaper and allowed her to sit in her urine for hours at at time (more than once). When I did complain, they all of a sudden told me she had reached her goal in therapy (this is only after 3 session). The staff is rude, unprofessional, and the Social Worker needs to rethink of why she is there because she is not an advocate for those in need (it's just a job).
