Review of Villa Pomerado Distinct Part Skilled Nursing Facility

1 Star User Review

My dad called me after 9 pm on a Friday night and said, "come quick! I'm choking and the nurses won't come!"

My husband and I drove as fast as possible. While my husband broke every traffic law, I frantically called the facility. I spoke with a nurse who spoke very poor Engish. I told her my dad's room number and that he was choking, please take care of him NOW, and she stated that she wanted to talk about my dad's x-rays! I screamed, "listen to me! My dad is CHOKING, Go to his room NOW!"

She FINALLY understood and said she would.

When we got there, my dad was miserable. He wasn't elevated enough and fluid kept gathering in his lungs. He wanted out of there; I didn't blame him. He was afraid he would die due to the nurses not helping him in time. I wanted to take him out of there but would have been going against medical advise.

My dad died 2 days later. They had previously asked my mom if she wanted them to resesitate him if necessary and she said, "yes". My dad told me he wanted to be revived as long as he didn't have to have machines keep him alive for the rest of his life. They didn't even try to resesitate him. In fact, one of the staff members, kelly, told my mom previously that they had nick-named my dad "Prick" and his last name.

This establishment is just awful. I am convinced there was negligence. I was told one story about how my dad died, and my brother was told a different story. I am further convinced they do not have a professional staff. If you love the person you are trying to place in this type of facility, please keep looking.

My mother also had the displeasure of staying at this facility about a year earlier. She suffered broken bones from a fall and was there for PT and recovery. She said the service was awful. She would press the nurse button and wait a very long time before they would come. She had a hard time communicating with the staff (a lot of the staff has English as a second language).
