Review of Kern Valley Healthcare District Distinct Part Skilled Nursing Facility

1 Star User Review

The hospital is financially busted, along with the attitudes over there. They also have more than 10 civil court cases lining up to go along with their criminal elder abuse case.

This hospital offers little in geriatrics except a nursing center. There are no cardiologists available. There is a helicopter for runs to Bakersfield if there is time.

Most people in the area have had billing issues, can't get a primary doctor that takes the time to truly care for patients.

The pharmacy sells only the cheapest medications made by off brand manufacturers to save money.

The political climate is terrible, there is no communication between the providers, thereby leaving patients with unchecked test results.

Little in the way of mental health services. Standard physical therapy, nothing innovative.

The hospital fights all claims for damages, in almost all cases. The risks to go to the hospital are many, the ER Director has only been practicing for 8 years. There is no surgeon.

The board of directors have wasted much money on projects which never were finished. There is no urgent care, though there was supposed to be one. There are few specialists making rounds in the area, making it necessary for patients to travel either to Bakersfield or Ridgecrest.

The board also wants the community to pay more property taxes in the form of a GOB. The residents are already in debt due to financial mistakes and hold the title on this hospital with their property.

There is also no OBGYN and the hospital does not deliver babies so those with youngsters may not find this district hospitable.

This hospital may be good for visitors, recreationalists, who might bleed to death, but for residents who live here year round, there are better places to go.
