Review of Valley Convalescent Center

5 Star User Review

This is the worst nursing home I have ever seen, and in my nine years in the medical field I have seen a lot. The owner is only in the business to make money with absolutely no regard for the condition of the property or care to patients. The building is extremely dirty and in major need of repairs. I don't think the walls have even been painted in at least 10 years. Due to restrictions set by the owner, the facility is short of all supplies and extremely short staffed, especially for nurses aides. Call lights are not answered in a timely manner, and patients are routinely left to sit in wet, dirty diapers for hours at a time. Equipment is very rare to find in this building, and wheelchairs are commonly switched among patients on a daily basis, leading to very poor infection control measures. The medication nurses are incompetent, with poor communication to doctors, poor medical knowledge and treatment skills. There was even an incident where a LVN did not know how to administer CPR to a patient that was not breathing. The administration is also so cheap that they tell patients family members that they have to purchase medical equipment or pay for services that the building is actually being paid by medicare to provide. I would never send a family member or friend this building. Make the extra drive and effort to send your loved one to a facility in the San Diego area, it is worth it.
