Great facility !
To say that I recommend this facility 200% would be a gross understatement! In my wildest dreams, and from experience of family and friends in other facilities, I never dreamed that such a place existed outside of an infomercial! If I ever need care such as this facility provides, I I definitely want to be at Meadowbrook Extended Care! The place is beautiful, open and fresh, and the "vibes" are positive. The staff is positive, friendly, extremely competent, and makes the residents feel like family. What more could you want? Add to that the excellent, professional care, and you have the best place possible for a person to receive the care needed for optimal recovery. I am so happy to have found them, and I highly recommend them for anyone who needs the services that they provide.
My mother-in-law entered the Meadowbrook Extended Care facility May 7, 2012, and died from a brain tumor May 11, 2012. Although her stay was brief, there are some observations we can offer.
The facilities are relatively new, well-maintained and pleasing. The staff seemed helpful and congenial. Our Family has no complaints regarding the physical facility and treatments my mother-in-law received. When it became apparent she was not suited for extended care after a couple days of attempted rehab, management was very accommodating in allowing her to stay in her room near the 24-hour nurses' station after a decision was made for hospice care.
There were a couple of negatives, however.
The extended care facility has relatively lax security, since the primary entrance is not locked until 9 p.m. and entry to patient rooms is accessible without any good measure of security. Another primary concern involves a lapse in fiduciary responsibility for patient prescriptions.
Meadowbrook contracted with PharMerica to provide over $600 in prescriptions inventory for my mother-in-law. Although she died within five days of arrival, Meadowbrook failed to return any of her unused inventory for credit, which I later learned they can do within 14 days after receipt. Consequently, we have paid for unused prescriptions due to negligence in their inventory management regarding return of unused prescriptions.
Not sure yet about this place I have just placed my mother there and before I had her signed in completely my son waiting in the lobby for me over heard some of the staff gossiping about her because of things they heard. Second day now, I called and it took 7 calls to finally get in touch with a nurse and then when I asked to speak with her she sounded doped up. I then spoke with the nurse and they said she has been sleeping all day and want eat. I was under the impression that they were to work with her and get her moving. We'll see. This is my first time having to place someone in a nursing home.
This is the place that I would want to receive care at when needed, the location, cleanliness of the facility, and staff was all top notch. These people run a tight ship and it shows, my father required rehab and during his stay there were no complaints, everyone was professional with a personal touch.
