My name is Genora Hale. My grandmother, Mrs. Elnora Oden was a resident of Goodwater Healthcare for 4 years and 8 months. Admitting my grandmother to any nursing home was not a decision that I would ever face. The admissions counselor, was very professional and tried to make me at ease. I was very reluctant, because of so many nursing home stories shared by others.Plus, when she was admitted, it was my intention to have her transferred back closer to home. However, as time passed and after seeing her contentment, I decided to suspend my plans to have her transferred to Sylacauga. I am proud that Goodwater Healthcare was my grandmother's last stop before Heaven. I say that because the administration and the entire staff showered her with love and care. She was admitted as private pay and later was approved for medicaid, however, her level of care never changed. The facility is very clean. There are many activities planned for the residents. I visited at different times of the day. The entire staff was professional and loving. I was notified immediately if something was wrong. Anytime I called to check on her, the staff was very courteous. Even when her departure was imminent, the entire staff continued to care for her. I will always be grateful for the care that Goodwater Healthcare provided to my loved one. I take comfort in knowing that she departed surrounded by people that genuinely loved and cared for her. It really has changed my perspective on skilled nursing. I have all positive thoughts when I think of Goodwater Healthcare Center.

Hello, My name is Ruby Owings, I am now a retired nurse, planning to place my Mom, who has severe dementia now with some psychotic features and who occasionally takes flight or gets angry enough to frighten her family. We love Mom deeply and while she is less than perfect, we have fought to care for her. The response we have received from GWHC, has been very kind, forthwith, upfront, and most important caring as Leena the admission person for the facility, has been very straight forward and offered knowledgeable information upon how to go about admitting our Mom into a nursing home, The home is clean, has friendly personnel, and feels like a home, which is important to my Mom who was the epitome of the Southern homemaker. We are in grief and Leena has dealt politely and conscientiously with me as I navigate toward what could be my Mom's final Earthly home. We are frightened as we make final decisions, and it is so heart warming to talk to a lady and see a staff who cares and works with all of us. Thank you RubyOwings
